my tip was off :?
things ive noticed so far
- adelaide have no strong ruckman
- maxwell seems to be more fired up maybe due to the number 5 on his back
- the ground is really wide, but the players keep running it wide.
- leon davis is wearing the number 41. :? can someone tell me whether thats perminant.

Rocca is also wearing no. 2. According to the commentators changes are for this game only.

Did anyone see that major stuff up by Thomas? The commentators didn't shut up about it. From greatness to foolishness.

No brains that Collingwood mob.

When they let Adelaide beat them in Round 22 to keep us out of the finals, they remained in contention. Nobody must've pointed out to Eddie that this time they'd be out, with no chance of the $350k.

It's Feb and the filth lost last years round 1 nab game by 12 goals so some how i don't think they will be worried.

Must say though the crows look sharp i thought they would be stuffed in 08 but they seem to have a good young group coming thru.

Very boring way to start the season off and I don't think we would have won too many international footy fans with that effort.

The highlight for me was the performance of James Sellar. Looks like he could be a very handy CHF if he gets his goalkicking in check.

I would not put too much store in the game or its result..

1/ Just teams flying Melb - Perth disrupts teams.....let alone all the way to Dubai.

2/ Pies went via South Africa picking up a tummy bug on the way...hardly condusive to playing football

3/ Both teams had many players out...

Recognise this for what it was...Eddie looking after his Emirate Sponsors for their truck loads of cash and freebies. This by the way is actually a positive comment as Eddie has hugely turned the Pies finances around with stunts and relationship building exercises such as this.

Remeber a while back when Eddie and a few Pies fly to NZ to mark the launch of new NZ service.

I expect Emirates to keeping throughing the $$$$ the Pies way......and not that he probably needs it but I assume Eddie gets to fly First Class on Emirates whenever he wishes too

So hard to read anything into the preseason comp but it was interesting that the young Crows cut up a Pies team that was nearly at full strength. Thought the crows skills looked very good as well as their tactics.

Although I don't really expect the Saints to win the first round NAB with so many of our best players out it would be great if they did win as we get to see them again in Melbourne for the second round. :)

yeh i always like to see them win the first NAB game but then generally dont like to see them continue due to the risk of injury but i wont mind if we dont win against the tiges because of the first 5 rounds at home.

One mistake and the poor guy is even being bagged on a Saints forum! They cant shut up about it over on Nick's!
Every other game,he plays strong, skillful, intelligent football, but one game he makes a mistake and bang he's in the firing line even though there were SO many other mistakes and ordinary performances.
Herald Sun actually gave him BOG.

i agree with you he is a superb player and you dont hear anyone talking about that bork and set up for the ben reid shot at goal in the 2nd do you. i wouldnt have had him BOG though i would have had either vince, tippet or goodwin.

Thats the thing people always choose the biggest mistake a player makes in a game and focus on it 100%.Thing alot of the people on Nick's dont relise is the Collingwood players read it and alot of them take to heart what some of the more respected posters on there say.
I've been watching Dale since he was playing for Gippsland Power and he is one of the most hard working, team orientated players Ive ever seen.

Yeah Thomas might be a great bloke, but he still plays for the filth. Says it all.
And excluding all the anti NAB cup detractors, the thing that impressed me most with the first hit up for the crows, was how they smashed collingwood in the stoppages. and cleared the ball with ease. They look a fast hard running side And given this is what I would consider year two into their "rebuilding" phase, I would expect them to pushing up the ladder this year, and my early tip is collingwood will be doing the oppposite, I cant see where they have improved since last year.

Adelaide have lost their two ruckman, their captain and leading goal scorer aswell as a couple other starting 22 players, the young players they have coming through will not get them into the 8 IMO, players like Knights and Van Berlo are good but they are not good enough to prevent Goodwin and Edwards taking too much of the strain.
10th-16th, Sellar is the Crows' great white hope but he is still a couple years away IMO...

Something tells me that Porplyzia and Vince could be quite popular dream team selections this year

i think tippet with time can fill the ruckman spot and sellar should fill the leading goal scorers spot.
