Im also a fan of this thread - Gardiner hold immense interest for me as he has an enormous upside that could have a huge bearing in improving an area we have been weak in for 5 yrs.
Why silly comments are allowed in threads in an attenmpt to have them hijacked and play "look at me im 10" is mystifying...youd think the joint is mod-less....

Im in violent agreement.snoopygirl wrote:We're here Teflon. People are entitled to voice an opinion even if it is unpopular.
BUT theres a difference between having an "opinion" and allowing a topic to be hijacked by posts that are pure attempts at self flagellation and just noise - posts that arent even related to the topic on a thread many have already said they are enjoying?????....so why allow the minority to dictate that?
It does appear that what constitutes an "opinion" is up for debate...I shall remember that.

Andrew Maher just stated on SEN that MG has suffered a 'slight setback' - hamstring tightness.
Apparently his foot is fine.
He was talking about how a mate of his from another Club? had told him how well King looked and was going. Was asked about MG and made the 'slight setback' comment, although he spoke about it as if it wasn't serious.

Saints ponder single skipper
27 January 2008 Sunday Herald Sun
Jackie Epstein

.
.
Having fit players has been a luxury for the usually injury-ravaged Saints. Lyon indicated earlier this year he expected a far greater output from former Eagle Michael Gardiner, who has been hampered by injury since joining the Saints.
"Michael Gardiner said before Christmas it is the best he's felt in four years," Lyon said.
"He had the early operation and it is sort of starting to pay dividends now.
"There's a bit of water to flow under the bridge, but we're really positive about his prospects for '08."
Lyon also praised the output of premiership Cat Steven King.
"He's obviously come off a wonderful year for him and Geelong, but now he's at St Kilda and he feels he has a point to prove," he said.
"Physically, last year he got over all of his niggles and played good football and earned his spot and that's what he's trying to do here and we're pretty confident he'll have a good year."

Heard from a friend of mine down at the club that there was a closed training session on friday where the squad was split up into 3 teams of 12 players and intra club games were played in full match conditions. From all reports Gardiner beat King in the ruck hands down with Rixxy also having the wood over King
i thought that was supposed to be the intrateam game ???sackers5 wrote:Heard from a friend of mine down at the club that there was a closed training session on friday where the squad was split up into 3 teams of 12 players and intra club games were played in full match conditions. Interesting to note that lyon said he would be rucking with both gards and king with rix to help out. Sounds like they are confident in the fitness of the big bloke

Take it or leave it mate, doesn't worry me. Again its only my mates opinion who saw the closed training session. He told me about Gardiner, James Wall (who was called down to make up numbers) got mauled by Gehrig, real AFL umpires were down there to umpire. And because the new apparel hasnt arrived yet the teams wore Casey jumpers and they borrowed Sandi Zebra jumpers ...... thats all he told meQuixote wrote:

Saints to rest players before season
05 February 2008 Herald Sun

ST KILDA coach Ross Lyon will sacrifice a full tilt at the NAB Cup to have his side peaking for Round 1
.
.
.
."So we want to get to Round 1 with really strong momentum, and it's well publicised we've got eight games out of the first nine at Telstra Dome, which our group likes playing at."
The other players set to be put on ice early days are big men Michael Gardiner and Justin Koschitzke.

If they can't 'hack' it now how does he expect Gardiner & Kosi to be durable when they are up against real opposition, week in week out?
The jury is out for me too unless they, as individuals, prove otherwise.
