Went to training, not much to say that would be worthy of a new thread. No sign of most of the experienced group.
I believe the training session was run by Van Rheenen (but John Barker was there too), based on some comments at the start which I only half-heard.
The big guys have good skills, and Eljay looks very smooth and moves a bit like Dal.

very poor effort by the club! i would not call that training!
they came out at about 10.40, and played a game untin 10.50.
the game involved all players but 3 making a big circle. the left over 3 were to stand next to each other in the middle of the circle, and stand still without moving. all the other players who were apart of the circle would kick the footys up in the air and the 3 players were not allowed to move. there was the odd time where a player would duck so he doesnt get brain dammage....
next thing they did was pair up and kick to each other at a very high speed about 5m apart! then slowly went out to about 20m apart.
that was it for the day, they were there for 25mins max!
some players who were not doing skills training were:
Riewoldt
Ball
Kosi
Gram
Leigh Fisher
Harvey
i have a few photos, will post them up later

it does say on the saints training hotline that training from now on will be tuesdays at 10.30 for 40mins max, but i was expecting a bit more than them just having a game and going back inside.savatage wrote:Most likely scenario.saintsRrising wrote:Perhaps they were doing other forms of training before or after...ie gym etc....saintdooley wrote:

Yes mate, but most likely as per the post above mine, they did other stuff behind closed doors.saintdooley wrote:it does say on the saints training hotline that training from now on will be tuesdays at 10.30 for 40mins max, but i was expecting a bit more than them just having a game and going back inside.savatage wrote:Most likely scenario.saintsRrising wrote:Perhaps they were doing other forms of training before or after...ie gym etc....saintdooley wrote:

Milne wasn't there either. Gehrig, Bakes, Montagna, Fiora were about the only senior guys there.
Not a bad little training session though, good to go down and have a peek at the players having some fun. Had to laugh at some of the drills though, lobbing 15+ footys at the heads of three guys standing in the middle of a circle, gold.

RE the Lob it at the new guy drill- explained to my NON football friend it possibly is almost legitimate that you have to be fearless in a pack and when the ball is coming in hard and fast- who ducks first type of drill.Otiman wrote:Milne wasn't there either. Bj was another experienced guy out there and Grammy was under the cap- I initially thought it was Max, Ferg, Schneider, was there too, one other guy seemed older- was it Dempsey?
otherwise mainly the rookies and 1st and a couple of second year players, Allen, Birrs,
