Our memebership stands at 10,000 at the moment. We are the second lowest at the moment with Nth Melbourne at 8,000.
Doggies have about 15,000, hawks 16,000, Demons at about 11,500, essendon around 17,000 Collingwood and Geelong i can't remember. This was in todays Herald Sun.

It would be great to have a POLL on when ppl buy their memberships.

ie;

October, when they are 1st sent out

Prior to Christmas (presents)

After Christmas

At the Family Day

During pre-season

Just before Rd 1

After the start of the season

FWIW I have always purchased prior to Christmas. This year I decided to go onto that "Rolling" instalment arrangement where I remain a member year after year or until my Credit Card instalments are rejected !!

many on here said as we were waiting for memberships to come out that they always wait till just before rd one

essendons figures are always inflated by the roll over rejoining.

Thanks Saintbrat. 11,850 sounds alot better and i don't know where they got their numbers from, they are obviously wrong.
Ialways purchase our membership before xmas. The option for 12 months instalment suited us just fine, this would be a good option for most right on xmas.

I usually renew some time in December, but this year I'm definitely renewing before 21 December to get the DVD.

Didn't they come out late this year due to the board changing? If that is the case most clubs have a months headstart but it will even out closer to the season.

Didn't come out late due to board change (membership department were unaffected), but came out about 4 weeks later than last year.

4 weeks would be a couple of thousand members at this time of year IMO.

The key for our membership, and what will determine whether it's 28k or 38k is our first 6 rounds.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Even at 11,850 were a fair way off the Dogs...thats a tad sad for a club that supposed to have a huge latent following...

As I stated previously I doubt we would get more than 28000 members next season due to our poor showing this year and the negitive publicity of our style of play this season.

We are also unlikely to take the pre season seriously which will not help either.

You're not wrong very often plugger66, but I hope you are with this one.

I gather these are your thoughts and not the clubs

I agree with plugger66.

I reckon we will have 25k members who will sign up regardless, and then another 10k who are variable, depending on how we perform.

As I said above, we could get 32k if we win the first six games, but I reckon we will struggle to get 30k unless we get a start like that.

Just on the comparisons with other Clubs..and our numbers from pervious years..

Maybe someone can fiond out when we started selling memberships in previous years and work out members/week signing..might hush a few of the doomsayers.

My memory is telling me that we were starting 4-6 weeks this year later than previous years

Will be boosting the numbers by 40-odd (all with reserved seats) this arvo when I go and finalise the MW yearly reserved seating.

Our actual membership level today is more likely to be 12,000 or more after Saturday when a lot join/renew over the counter.

The Herald Sun have given us absolutely nothing in publicity over the last month or so, there has been no advertising apart from an odd strip ad in the Age, so our exposure to the market place has been zero since the membership package was introduced, late as it was.

The Herald Sun is proberbly ante us because their oposition is a Club sponser, so jealousy's a curse.

I wonder whether we now have a media person on the staff, maybe not - it's proberbly all left to Archie to do and he can't do everything.

The Membership level should reach more than 30,000 again for next season as the supporters seem to be fairly confident with the future after all the changes in admin., good recruiting, not a bad draw etc. so let's all be bullish and drive the membership bandwagon to record levels for 2008.

Surely not?? Next you'll be saying that the H-S beat up the crowd trouble at Victory games cos they (and the ground) have a deal with the Age ;-);-);-)

Come on Saint66au - tell us when the Hun last gave the StKFC some good publicity, say just 10% of what they give the Filth and Essendon nearly every day would be a huge improvement.

To list a Membership chart showing us at 10,000 today shows that they have just guessed a figure - very poor journalism.

Anyway, I'll proberbly give the Hun the arse as I've subscribed to the Age deal anyway.

I gave the Hun the arse a year ago and have not read a word of it since.

Changed my life for the better :)

We have had quite a bit of publicity, the move to Frankston got front page of the Herald Sun, the board movement got publicity and Fraser coming back got publicity.

But what the club has done very poorly is not organising training sessions or gatherings where fans can meet players and buy memberships. Carlton had a meet and greet on Saturday (this got publicity and would have sold memberships), Hawthorn also had the same thing on the weekend. All these closed sessions especially for the school holidays are going to kill us trying to attract fans to buy jumpers or sell memberships.
