Had a bigger gut than I do, and said in hearing distance of the training staff and kids he had a "f##king sh#t year" when I enquired as to how he felt about his year.

not really who couldn't we recruit because of his contract?
Just making the point that his contract was long term and up there with little on field return. Who knows who we could have got in the last two years of his contract while he was on the sideline if our salary cap was freed up

Exactly, no point beating yourself up about them, a while ago I made up a list of the best possible team that we could have drafted in hindsight, easily premiers any year but everyone's a professional recruit in hindsight...

What about Tony King (who played one game) and Mark Scott? And we gave Hawthorn Russel Greene for these duds!! Comes close to the Billy Barrot fiasco....

Dean Anderson (i think we got him from the hawks)
Steven Newport (made an artform out of jogging on the spot, not getting the ball and panicking when it accidentally fell into his hands. I also seem to remember that we delisted and then used our first pick to get him back one year, that was in the time of Sheldon's first reign).

Sean Charles easily I remember watching him play for the saints and was absolutely dumbfounded how someone so bad could actually be given the chance to play AFL football

yeh well even though i wasnt around how about ian stewart for bill barrott played 8 quarters for us then left while stewart went on for his 3rd brownlow
