I hope it's not the great man you're refering to...

Just shoot em all its beytond a joke.
I don't know about that, I think we should just put them out to stud.

We really have to find out what this is... it must be something that seperates us from the rest of the teams.... I'm thinking the surface of Moorabbin...

If we wanna play an extra tall in the forward line then we'll be looking for possibly Gardner (charlie) to step up,

or rotate King/Gardiner (Michael) through forward line.
put fraser at chb. a mistake to play kosi anywhere but ff, imo

I agree that we should play Kosi in FF but I would much rather Kosi at CHB and Gehrig at FF than Kosi at FF and Gehrig at CHB...

hopefully we'll be able to play kosi ff and fraser alongside him in a pocket.

our ability to convert opportunities to goals let us down badly last year

I'll second that and hopefully our midfielders will be able to hit a target, this was IMO one of our main downfalls this year... it made me sick seeing the delievery that Jonathan Brown and Cameron mooney were getting this season...

What was the medical procedure Hird had done when was suffering all those stress fractures of the foot a few years back? I have a suspicion it involved, basically, supergluing the injury? It did seem to resolve that issue for him.

you're right, it was half a joke.

play sam fisher chb or whomever ... the point i'm trying to make is that it will be a big mistake to play kosi anywhere but ff, IMO.

if we go back to the same lousy forward set-up we had last season we will fail again. you can count on it.

we need a forward line that can turn opportunities into goals and a guy who can take a contested mark at ff would be a good start. put fraser in a pocket beside him ... playing wide

With Goose having this injury again....I wonder if Scott Thompson's draft value has gone up to us as he is ready to play now....vs Rance, Gourdis etc who would all need some years...

B: S. Dempster, M. Hudghton, S. Baker
HB: J. Gram, S. Fisher, B. Goddard

That backline could easily win you a flag ...

Goose is important, but only as equally important as Maxie or BJ.

IMO Hudghton is THE most important as he stops his man. All very well to get 15 kicks and a nice goal on the run from CHB, but if your opponent kicks 4 goals then you have failed miserably.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

I agree on Max...and your post.

However Max's hammies have been dodgey of late.....though yes we do hope Misson and Co are the cure....

BUT I suspect that RL may want some back up....and with Goose doing his foot again...perhaps more so.

Last year at trade/draft time RL let it be known that one of his desires was a full back....

So it would not surprise if one of our rookie picks or later draft picks was someone like Scott Thompson who could play next year asa back up to Goose and Max..

Then again he may just go witha young kid...

Its NOV and we are filling holes already

Bloody stress fractures anyone think that the dry weather and hard grounds may of had something to do with it.

Really is a concern that he has done it again after such a long lay off during the off season.

Hope it works out for him but it is definatley not a good start and the ability of him getting over this injury in the future is now a concern.

Good luck Goose you poor bastard.

Cant rely on Max IMO in our back line, to injury prone also unfortunatley history shows this.

Geez it seems such a battle at the Saints to get this list up and firing and its very frustrating but thats footy, managment comes to mind once again bad luck only runs so deep and for a certain amount of time IMO.

Who can we rely on based on that criteria?

YEP and its a major problem and concern going forward because the same injury percentages have not changed for many seasons now.

Pre season has only just begun and its showing it's ugly head already.

Another on here seems to think another player has a injury also
(6 weeks), it could be Harves and if this is true then yep its a concern.

Apparently Harvey was doing laps at training today, so there must be some issue ...

Banger only ran laps at training today for about the first half an hour, and then got a massage and disappeared after that. He did not look right, uncomfortbale more than anything.

Banger was running laps because he did his calf in the 6km run 4 weeks ago as did another usual suspect X. Allen also got hurt in that run so it wasnt the greatest day but at least we are consistant.

Great... Now Harvey could be in trouble too... Bloody beutiful....

On the topic of Scott Thompson I would love it if we could pick this guy up, I think that some people might be overrating him a bit because of his stellar VFL Grand Final performance however he is still an exceptional fullback for VFL so hopefully he could turn that into above solid for AFL...

However if we were going to pick him up we would have to use pick 42... But if RL did come out and say we need a fullback it wouldn't surprise me if we did....

IMO this would be a very good result for us....

Pick 9: Ben McEvoy (18 year old Ruck/KPP)
Pick 42: Scott Thompson (21 year old FB)
Pick 57: Haelen Kay (18 year old Mid/FP)
Pick 70: Fraser Gehrig (31 year old FF)

That would mean over this off season we have lost:
Aaron Hamill
Andrew Thompson
Fergus Watts
Brett Voss
Barry Brooks
Matthew Clarke
Andrew McQualter
Phillip Raymond
James Wall

And we have gained:
Adam Schneider
Stephen King
Sean Dempster
Charlie Gardiner
Ben McEvoy
Scott Thompson
Haelen Kay
As well as probably 2 more rookies... My Guess:
Dunn
Bail

IMO that would be quite a successful off season turnover.
We will have addressed what I believe to be our biggest weaknesses: Small Forwards, Ruck, KPP and youth.
This could give us next year to focus on drafting midfielders and give LVR some more time to develop.

I honestly think these days footballer are too lean... They are not carrying enough body fat on them to insulate their muscles... This is a direct result of the amount of high intesity running they due these days, so its very much a catch22... I just dont get how going for a long run, and not necassarily at full pace, can come away with 3 or 4 injuries... baffling.

As I have said, it's a torn calf, he should be right in another 4 - 5 weeks

Didnt Burke say we would only be taking 3 picks in the draft?
That leaves one for the PSD... and does that mean 2 or 1 in the rookie?
Dont forget the NSW scholarship boy has been promoted to the rookie list too!
