If we give up pick 9 we may as well shut the doors. No way will we do that for a 31 year old with sore hands. 3rd or even still 4th pick only.riccardo wrote:Welcome back, Frase.
Is PSD an option? If not, he could make an in principal deal with us (which is never violated by other clubs) and slide through to a late pick in the National Draft.
Loathe to give up pick 9, but for Frase, I reckon I would.
Just a thought..if Fraser makes too much nopise about only playing for the Saints..is that compromising the draft??
In principal agreements are all well and good til one Club doesnt want to play ball...and Im sure SOMEONE would fancy the big G prowling their goalsquare

I think even he wouldnt want to play again if we had to give pick 9.saintsRrising wrote:Pick 9...no way ...not even for the GTrain...
There is some good talent in the Top 10.and you are very likely to get a ten year player from it...
The G may be only 1 more year...and perhaps part time at that...
We better not, be another waste

If its true that he wants to play only for the Saints, this has definitely made my day. I'd only use a late round pick for him though, pick 9 is off limits.
I'd still play Kosi as a permanent FF though, with Frase to play as a third forward.

Seems like a pokerplay to me... if he wants to come back, and is willing to do so fairly cheaply, he's still good enough to be a walk up start (assuming he hasn't completely let himself go...). At the same time, if I'm another club (including the Western Bulldogs) I'm very dubious of picking a 31 year old FF with injury issues, and questionable motivation.
On the other hand, late in the draft, when the pickings get slim...
can we get him with our last pick? If so, bargain, love it, want to see it happen. On the other hand, the idea of seeing him in another teams colours after the send off... well, thinking about that, I'm starting to understand how Brisbane fans must have felt this time last year when Michael decided he wasn't retired after all...

I've read some absolute nonsense before on here, actually it's the norm around these parts, but that surely takes the cake
conratulations ric, you've posted the biggest load of tripe that's ever before been written on here and that is truly saying something
get serious, your post is not even worthy of bothering with a sensible reply, you're obviously so far off in fairyland you wouldn't know the drum even if you had a brass band up you

realistically no other club would want him
hes 31
he has retired once
he would only have one season left in him
and clubs would remember pluggers come back from retirment
he would only attract intrest from st kilda any other club would be silly to pick him
frase had critics that said his heart wasnt in footy at st kilda imagine the critics if he was to get picked by a club he didnt want to go to !

At what stage of the draft would another club pick him and take the risk of him walking, this also means that they dont have to match up on him in 2008.
Say he is still there at pick 50 and a club was no longer going to be involved in the draft, why would you not take the chance on him and try to talk money with him to get him into the jumper rather than just yell out a PASS.
With this in mind we could not let him go through to late

What a bizarre day
Have also been a big G fan but have mixed feelings about him coming out of retirement.
Was also looking forward to seeing Kosi grab a key forward spot and make it his own.Is certainly an interesting development which will give Lyon and the club a lot to think about.
Pick nine has nothing to do with this and will secure a class kid.
The question is whether it takes the club forward or backwards.Part of me still wants to believe the big fella still has something to offer.
If we snag a flag with G in the side it would be a fairytale to end them all
