Brayshaw Not a Good Start....

Post: # 490149Post RBnW »

As the Kangaroos work hard to hold back the move to the Gold Coast and thier new would be President lifts his profile even further, by belting Dimwit at every opportunity..... there is always going to be the odd mistake....... after all he is a proven media performer....But appearing in a full length colour photo in the Herald Sun yesterday with a hand picked Blue and White polo shirt on with an opposition sponsors logo to that of your club is a major blue for a would be Pres....
The word is that the clubs sponsor is pissed off that the would be President wasn't smart enough to know that wearing the opposition tick would cause a problem.......he then went to his BMW, not his Mazda, phoned from his Vodafone, not his Primus phone and finished off the day watching Channel 9, not 7, 10 or Fox Sports....
Not a good start James, not a good start, once again a self promoting president just what the Kanga's need to attract and keep good sponsors, how hard is it to do the right thing....I bet if he was going on the footy show he would have got it right with thier sposors being promoted....it's the little things that will get you every time.....with this kind of stuff it makes it hard to be taken seriously.....the President and the profile will always get you in the end..........wnat a kanga blue

The point is NOW is the time Nth need a business savvy president who can speak in the media - Brayshaw is plain stupid.

Why karp on about how they at least NOW "need a years grace to try and stay in Melb...." when theyve had decades???? what in gods name has Brayshaw been doing on the Board for 9 months or so?

To much time in the mirror and on Sams boat for James...you just get the feeling hes an SA boy who wants that big melb profile that comes with being linked (or running) an AFL club......sad thing is Nth dont have the time to indulge someones hobby/self interest.

His dad was a damn sight better cricketer than he was. Good all-rounder for WA. Played footy over there too I think.

Yep..Ian Brayshaw was an exceptional State player, an allrounder generally regarded as one of the unluckiest blokes of his era not to win a baggy green.

In the HUN today Punter is publically backing Brayshaw and Archer, and the article talks about the possibility of Ponting joining the Roos board should they vote to stay in Melbourne.

Ponting IMO is about the last hope North have of staying a psuedo-Melbourne based club as they are now.

Perhaps if Punter donated 25% of his 2007 earnings to the club then 25% of their debt would be wiped out!!!

Consider this: If "The Kangaroos" really wanted so much to be a Melbourne based club, why did they drop the name "North MELBOURNE"? It was so they could appeal to Sydney-siders during thier ill-fated SCG home game experiment, from what I understand.

If they truly wanted to stay here, a sign of faith might be to immediately restore the pre-99 on field moniker.

Fair point that, money where your mouth is Ponts.......

Also listed in The Hun as "supporters" - John Farnham, Lee Freedman, Sigrid Thornton, John Howson, Kerry Stokes, Tim Rogers, Paul Jennings and Trevor Marmalade.

None of them would be short of a quid.....

Where have all these media stars for Nth been? What the hell has their Board been doing? why in gods name is it only now they get a sense of urgency.

Face facts - Brayshwa can phone all his media profile mates and sports stars he wants - FACTS are it aint seen as "sexy" to follow Nth and they have NO genuine supporter demographical base to build from.

Gold Coast Sharks IF they dont wanna play.....cause they wont survive on their own in 10 yrs time...

I'm going to agree with this.

Undeserved arrogance found in '96 never really went away. North fans and officials heads swelled overnight and they put everyone offside with thier attitudes.

Thats why nobody cares that they're getting shunted to GC now. You reap what you sow, I guess.

It is sad that previous boards have put them in the situation that they are in today but you are completely right, the club has no integrity and no heart anymore, it is time they packed up and left.... I just hope this will not lead to the americanization of the AFL...

A bit off the topic but IIRC weren't the kangas and the blues meant to merge in 1999, apparently the only thing that stopped it from happening was that both teams made the Grand Final against each other...

I don't remember that, North were going to merge with Fitzroy until the Bears stepped in, thats the only merger I remember them being involved in.

If you read Elliotts book, though, they "nearly" merged with everyone at one stage.
