Training Today. Anyone go? !!

Post: # 486788Post Eastern »

I know that its the 1st day back and that the guys aren't training on the Linen House Oval (is it still called that?) for another week, but did anyone get a look at what the boys are up to.

I reckon that next Monday, the 12th will be when some announcements are made re sponsorship for 2008. That could be part of the reason why there is no training on Linen House oval this week. We can't have the guys on tv, in the papers etc wearing Bill Express/Vodafone gear when they are no longer our sponsors.

At least I am hoping that to be the case !!

westofmoorabin says no training on the oval because of a recent top dressing.

... come on Eastern - 'out with it!'.

I was going to head down to Moorabbin today but thought it would be an orientation day - weighing, paperwork, measured-up for training outfits and the like - but just guessing. I thought that tomorrow would have been a better day to be lurking around in the shodows.

Monday last week the 1st-3rd year players had a time trial around the tan.

A bloke from QLD who we are looking at rookie listing flew down and won it (beat all our guys).

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Any ideas to how some of our guys went in it OWTS?

Hopefully Armo was a close second

No, a kid called Rohan Bail, a midfielder who I suspect we are looking at drafting with a late pick, or as a rookie listing.

Kangaroos and Western Bulldogs, who also started training today, rated a mention on the Channel 10 news. No sign of the Saints - perhaps there is something to Eastern's theory!!

Hopefully we can grab Smouha with Pick 58 and rookie Bail. Seems everyone knows Bail trialled with us and did very well.

Does it seem like we are drafting too many Atheletes rather than footballers?

I understand your concern Spinner. This appears to be the modern day conundrum, footballer v athelete. Personally I think footballer first until we start to get down the list, especially with kids (more so the talls) who have not had a lot of exposure to football. Ex basketballers, kids from non AFL states.

It's a very hard one to answer but I believe as with the majority of draft picks, we're driving blind and won't know if we've picked a winner for at least 3 seasons.

BOG in the AFLQ grand final with four goals off a wing would suggest he can play footy ...

I'm pretty sure they won't be wearing too much sponsor gear until they are announced. This could also be why no media as there probably isn't much the boys can wear except their own gear.

well one thing almost certain is that the 45mm dump of rain would help bed in the fertilizers.

every session will be open according to Nathan Burke except one before each game.

he said that closed sessions were a waste of time because teams analyse and watch your games for about 5 weeks before they play you so they know how you play anyway.

said to go to as many sessions as possible.

It surprises me that the guys are still wearing gear that advertises Bill Express & Vodafone. But then again, there aren't any alternatives !!
