Goose HF

Post: # 480172Post Lenny_Hayes7 »

Worth a try in 08? Kosi as a backman and goose at hf?
I just don't think goose is quick enough as a backman but his strength would make him a good HF player imo.
Imagine havin kosi at hb and roaming up the ground to a wing.

Just a thought anyone agree?

I think Kosi is too valuble up front to risk the change...

I think Ross has already said that Kosi will be our FF in 2008. That leaves Goose at CHB/FB playing on the gorillas like Brown, Hall, Nietz, Tredrea etc !!

Kosi no longer mobile enough top play at CHB like he was a kid.

Maguire must remember how to play there, and he will.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

kosi must play ff.

if he falls over at any stage then try goose at chf and roo at ff. i agree that goose has all the attributes of a good chf. very strong contested mark and a good reader of the play. also very courageous. can lift the guys around him with his attack on the ball.

btw, these are all the attributes of a good chb as well.

Was going to ask the same thing.

Why would you play a certain player in a certain position for 5 or 6 years afte r his debut, and then all of a sudden decide to give him a new position.

It takes time to develop players in certain positions, CHB aren't trained overnight.

I agree, the days of just deciding to play your full back as a full forward are over... last success was A. Lynch, anyone remember Fev?

I think Neitz is a success too. He was a Full Back / CHB before being consistently played forward.

Gehrig also came to Moorabbin as a Full Back.

Gehrig didn't come to Moorabbin as a full back.

He was a wing or half forward at the Eagles.

I cannot understand why we would match opposition club's offers to Maguire, who all wanted him as a big defender and then play him in the forward line when we, ourselves, are desperately short of quality big backmen. Especially when Kosi is a very good contested mark and has developed some pace and endurance as well as being a better kick for goal than Goose.

I think Gehrig started as a winger for the Eagles but as he got bigger and bigger he found himself in the back line, sometimes as full back, for them before coming over. I'm pretty sure he was a bit of a swing man, pinch hitter for the Eagles.

Maybe Goose could put his hand up for a Hunter type role at best, but please leave him back and get our back six settled.

I dont know why people are getting all defensive it was just a suggestion.
I like many of you would love to see him stay hb but i was just throwing up the suggestion.
Anyway it's much better than talking about the drugs and ben cousins crap im over it..

I just think he has more to offer a little further up the ground.

Im pretty sure we traded for him as a defender to replace the loss of Wakelin x 2. However when we lost Barry Hall the very next season he stepped into the full forward role. Did a pretty good job of it too :)

he was an all australian wingman for the eagles before we picked him up

I think the plan with Gwilt is for him to regrow his hair until he's 7 foot then to use him as a ruckman, his hair will be used for taps whilst the rest of his body will be closer to ground making him the ultimate big man.

Nonsense.

James Gwilt is being groomed to take over the PRESIDENCY of our Club.

FACT.

The fact that he pulls on a jumper 6 times a year is mere herring.

FACT.

James Gwilt is PNG's second largest mogul and is currently infiltrating Australia's lucrative childrens programming industry.

FACT.

James Gwilt will, in 2011, appoint Michael Klim as the new coach of the St Kilda footy club.

FACT.

From 2013, every St Kilda player will take to the field in a body-hugging, sperm-whale inspired suit.

Yeah you got it -

FACT.

George Bush has to go at some stage - Gwilt is the man for the job. The Saints have continually given him jobs which are beyond him so what the hell.

Back on FF (or is Gwilt playing there as well? Would have thought he'd need to get a game first), Sam Fisher came to the club as a forward and would like to see him tried there (if Max plays a full season).

Didn't agree with everything GT said when coach, but I personally think the ruck is best for Kosi.
