Firstly, I was impressed she noticed the difference and asked the question.

Reply was - they're from a different country (not that she's been overseas), spoke about her friends that had different skin tones to her (she's got olive skin), and how they come from a place with a lot of sun!

It's a toughy to explain to little one, but it's a daily challenge at the moment......her favourite word, used a thousand times a day, is "Why?"

You should have mentioned melanin (in three-year-old terms), otherwise she will think that if she plays in the sun she will turn black too.

Iagree with most comments especially in blaming the WCE Football Club.There has been a number of discressions and they continued to cover up and pretend that everything was okay. I'd just like to remind all you folks that our Bakes got hung out to dry and was penalised for 7 weeks and Cousins does three months rehab and allowed to play, that is not fair. The AFL need to get a grip on this and be more aggressive towards the WCE and let them know they are on notice.
And just to let ya know how a 14 year old boy feels abot this, his comments were exactly this, gun player, great roll model,what a waste and maybe end up like his mate.

Funny, but a lot of those two thousand will have substance use problems themselves and/or mental illness.

The guy is under 30, male, has a substance use problem, is mixed up with violent friends, has lost his girlfriend not long back, one of his best mates even more recently and his career is blown. He's a fallen idol. Anybody know what links all of these points?

They're all risk factors for something. He's as vulnerable as all hell. This whole situation can get worse and become even more tragic. I hope it does not.

While everyone is casting around around to throw rocks at this guy consider these facts.

i think it should be taken into account that he came to a club that by all reports had an extreme drug culture. of course he is an idiot but he has an illness and i think people are bashing him too much. hes got the rest of his life to regret his actions so that should be punishment enough. (not to mention court case)
