Shame about Watts.
Would have liked to see him actually do a pre-season and have an injury free year to prove himself.
The sentiment seems to be that he is too slow for "modern" football, but I think there is always room in the goalsquare for a big marking sharp shooter.
Anyway, another first round draft pick has just left the building.

Yes Archie said it was those FOUR who would be going.fonz_#15 wrote:so mini is safe i'm assuming. He is contracted for 2008 which is why i thought he would be safe but next season is make or break for him. Improve and cement a spot or your out.
KB specifically asked Archie to name ALL those who were going to be delisted in addition to Brooks as Archie had mentioned Brooks at the start of the interview.
So looks like Mini passed the interview test with Ross...and Brooks and watts did not.

awesome news!
Put aside who has gone or why they have gone.
As I said on a previous post....it's TIMING......get rid of the dead wood now, so if there are any targets for the PSD we are on the table and ready to negoiate.
ie. if we want Brennan or Kepler Wessels, etc, other clubs know where we stand.
4 delisted + 5 retired - 4 additions during trade week = 5 spots up for grabs.
Archie said we'll take 4 in the National Draft, but wasn't sure if we'd participate in the PSD.
I assume there is a 50/50 chance we will be in the PSD???

well that's now 15 players and 3 rookies moved on since RL was appointed. He is certainly turning the list over. McQualter will need to break through in 2008.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

i think you will find mini had a contract for 08 already and that is what saved him. I hope he can really push hard for a spot in our best 22 next season.

Yes he said that the coaches etc were all taking a bit of a break now..and that they would look at the PSD when they got back. So there is no decision yet on whether they will or won't...saintspremiers wrote:awesome news!

Why don't you ask Archie? You can be emailing him at archief@saints.com.ausaintsRrising wrote:
No unfortunately KB did not ask about Rookies...though as I am at work I may have misseda comment on rookies...but I do not recall one.
If you ask in a civilized manner, I'm sure he will respond !!

I think that you can...but there is only room for one such type in your forward line...and Kosi will have that role.Enrico_Misso wrote:Shame about Watts.

.
Kosi >>>>> Watts
Playing BOTH Watts and Kosi would make fora very cumbersome forward line.

A shame for the players. Their dream is gone of an AFL career.
Young men who would all be feeling pretty down ATM. I feel for them personally.
However for the STKFC it is something that happens every year and it is a tough business.
Glad for McQualter (and Ferg, and a couple of others). Make of break for the two mentioned I would assume.
All or nothing from Ferg and Mini in 2008.

Lance or James??

Not sure about the rules on rookie listing players (age, etc), but do you reckon there'd be any chance we would try to rookie list one of these blokes?
I suppose we'll have to wait and see who if any of them continue to train at the club.
