King vs Wood

Post: # 474316Post saintsRrising »

These two were the best two choices from the available ruckman.

Hudson would have neen ok.

Meesan seems to be another Brooks...a gifted player who does not have enough heart.

King is better than Wood for 2008.....and possibly 2009.

Wood would be better of the longer term.

I am sure that Banger will be delighted that he will have a good ruckman in King to play with in his last year

This will assist in perhaps having Banger finsih his career in style.

Having King gives us a huge set of bonuses...

- Allows Kosi to play as a permanant FF, which is where we need him.
- Allows Van Rheenan time to develop at Casey.
- Allows Gardiner time to get himself 100%.
- Allows us to cut either Brooks or Rix if we want too.
- Gives our midfielders a quality ruckman to work with.
- We're no longer going to get smashed in the middle.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

This is probably delusional - but im still thinking Mick Gardner might be around for a while.

After that I guess we are looking at Van Rheenan.

I hate to say it but the Pies have done well out of all of this. Wood will be a 100 gamer at least.

Hopefully we cut Brooks and draft McEvoy at pick 9, seriously lets be honest Van Rheenan wont make it.

BROWNLOW: DalSanto 06, Ball 08, Riewoldt 07, Ball + Dal + ROO tie 09.

lets be honest? the kid's what... 18?

straight out of district suburban footy, and not even the seniors!

hes got potential, thats why hes on the rookie list.

none of us know enough about him to 'be honest' whatsoever.

Would still like to see us draft or rookie another ruckman in addition to VR.

2 ex-cat players worth the punt

King has the realistic hope of continuing to play finals and he has every chance of holding down the ruck at the Dome.

We still have pick 9 to boot.

So far so good it appears.

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

King is a proven AFL footballer. Wood is not.

Pies gave up a first rounder, we gave up pick 90 and got Charlie Gardiner for free.

Everyone says Wood has a big future - but ruckmen dont always come on - eg Brooks & Adelaide's Meeson are 2 fine examples. Wood has a long way to go to esablish himself.

How many AFL games does the average pick 90 play ?

Even if King doesnt play a game - we lost nothing. This deal is all upside for the Saints

Well done !!
