St Kilda may not have got the ruckman it desired but added run to its side by trading pick 26 to Sydney for premiership players Adam Schneider and Sean Dempster. With the pick returning the Swans to the second-round of the draft, they then struck a deal for Geelong forward Henry Playfair for a third-round selection, pick 44.
Despite initial reluctance, the popular Schneider yesterday agreed to be traded to St Kilda with Dempster for the Saints' second draft pick (No.26). Dempster was more eager to join former Swans assistant coach Ross Lyon at Moorabbin, believing he will get more game time.
"It's a difficult decision and Schneids wanted to think it over, but he's handled it well and the important thing is that, as premiership players, both of them feel like they can come back to the club at some stage," Roos said.
Absolutely brilliant trading. Well done Ross Lyon!
Although with Dempster at the club I think Ferguson has to go. S.Fisher, Gram, Gilbert, L.Fisher, R.Clarke, Dempster and Gwilt on the list means that Ferguson won't come close to selection in 2008.

WTF?? That bit scares me, these guys aren't going to p*ss off back to Sydney in a few years are they?
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"
how come the swans were so keen to get rid of the schniederman and dempster for a secound rounder??
The main issue is salary cap. Schneider would be demanding just as much as Davis and Buchanan, but ultimately you don't need 3 small forwards on more than $200k.
Dempster probably wanted to go. He has struggled for opportunity this year and might think that he wouldn't have a future at Sydney (or Sydney thinks that he wouldn't have a future there).
I expect Dempster to take over Attard's role. He is a fairly similar player. Biggest strength is negating, doesn't win much of the ball and doesn't have much natural talent. However he is a big kick and quite athletic. Can be used as a tall midfield tagger, a small defender or a key defender.

I would assume it meant they would be welcome back for premiership reunions and the like .....

Yeah, because usually traded premiership players are exiled from a club, never to darken its door again.
