Aaron Hamill retires
Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 3:18 PM
Subject: Aaron Hamill retires
Wednesday 3rd October
St Kilda’s Aaron Hamill has retired after seven seasons at the Club and 190 career matches.
A strong and tough player, Hamill began his AFL career with Carlton, taken as their 5th round
selection in 1994. He was then traded by the Blues in the 2000 National AFL Draft for Sam Cranage
and No. 4 (Luke Livingston), where he arrived at St Kilda and proved to be a vital asset to the Club’s
forward set up.
Hamill was recently approached by the Saints to discuss his playing options. After having time to
reflect on his future, Hamill felt it was in the Club’s best interest to retire.
“The decision to retire has been one of the hardest to make in my football career. However, I felt it
was in the best interest of the club moving forward. This will now allow a younger player to step up
and cement themselves in the St Kilda side.â€

Thank you Sammy for your commitment to the red white and black.
With Sammy and the other retirees how would that place us in terms of the salary cap would we have much room to go for some big name players?

One of the toughest son of a bitches I've ever seen in the red, white and black.
If he'd stayed fit over the past few years, that party you're seeing at Kardinia Park right now could very well have happened at Linton St a couple of times.

Approached each contest with the attitude you wish you could get from everyone.
100% commitment to the cause all the time.
Tough as nails Hammer, we have missed your presence throughout the last couple of years and its a terrible shame that injuries have cut you down.
All the best mate and thanks for the years of service.

Thanks for your efforts Aaron you never gave less than 100% for our club on and off the field.
We will miss you. Oh what may have been if you had have maintained full fitness.

A sad but inevitable day!
Thanks for your significant contribution to the St.Kilda Football Club Aaron...no doubt that your mentoring of Roo,Kosi ,Dal etc will continue to benefit the club going forward...
What might have been!!!A 100% fit Hamilll in 04-06 could have been the difference with no exageration

I am truly truly shattered by this news,
I really thought there was a slight chance he`d come back next year.
Aaron and his playing style was the reason I became a saints fan and now he is gone
I will miss seeing you play handsome man
BTW, does anyone know if he will or has had a press conference
Please load it up on youtube, I dont have cable TV and I live in Sydney....they never report on AFL news.
self-confessed obessessive Aaron Hamill fan
