westaway on sen -the run home
will meet players and staff in football and club Friday as first priority
then secure sponsors who have already said once your in we'll committ
will speak at Best and Fairest Friday- ( B&F Hosted By Francis Leach)
Bottom Line
- Football department funded well
- Look at decreasing time lost to injury
-secure sponsors
- Value for members
the Playing list is Confident and can be assisted by good recruiting
asked about salary gap space- that is Ross and Archies area- queried on Aaron and again that is Ross's area.
Training ground/ base
what /where will give the Saints the best chance for the future and a Premiership- follow up where plans and negotiations are at,exhaust all possibilities as Moorabbin before looking elsewqhere.

Said Hamill could no longer continue physically and will be missed
Didn't comment on trading etc. - said that was a decision for Lyon/Archie
Will speak at B&F on Friday and to players on Friday afternoon also
------------
Interesting comments cazper66.
Butterss (when he wasn't talking about personal disputes) was one of the more accomplished media performers amongst the club Presidents.
Frank Costa is "old school" too, so I'm not worried about that side of things.

To be fair chook he said the detail will be coming...a bit unrealistic to expect him to launch into detail in a short radio interview.chook23 wrote:Questioned on detail of plans.......

general comments but no substance
And yes cazper66 he is old school and not media savvy and does say right a lot but give the guy a chance FGS
Think he comes across as a genuine person and has good business credentials...can't help but feel there are those amongst us waiting or even wishing he and his board will fail
Lets give the guy a chance to settle in and least make a judgement on whether the new board has delivered after a year or two.

just as bad as ross lyon saying the word 'clearly' 140 times every time he speaks.cazper66 wrote:Only time will tell whether Greg Westaway is the right man for the job....
...my initial reaction after hearing him speak is that he is very much 'old school', and isn't very media savvy.
BTW, how many times did he say the word "right?" when he was speaking? I think I counted 140.

5 Directors have resigned now.saintsrus wrote:Sorry without reading the countless threads, how does he automatically become in charge, didnt we have to vote them in?
The remaining two will co-opt the FF 5.
The new Board will then elect their choice as President = GW.
Levine has another year to run as a Director....but I think the other 6 will need to stand at the next AGM (in Feb???).

I'd like all the 'I want more details' crowd to bite their bums.
Part of the reason Butterss had so many members prepared to vote him out was the lack of detail he provided (especially when the challenge first developed).
Expecting a bloke to provide information to the rank & file about sponsorships, etc is folly. If Westaway comes out & says 'Ive got Qantas lined up' don't you think that Carlton, Essendon & every other club CEO will be banging down Geoff Dixon's door giving them a better deal than St.Kilda can???
The proof will be in the pudding...just let it rest.

from what i remember it was fraser and butterrs who was dealing with the council.Mr Magic wrote:An interesting comment he made was that 'he'll have to find out why the Moorabbin issue is stalled with the Council'.
Considering that Gdanski is part of his team and he was apparently in charge of dealing with the Council for the lsat 4 years, I thought that comment was staggering.

No, Gdanski said on SEN when he was interviewed that he was in charge of dealing with the Council over the preceding 4 years, so give credit where it is due.saintly wrote:from what i remember it was fraser and butterrs who was dealing with the council.Mr Magic wrote:An interesting comment he made was that 'he'll have to find out why the Moorabbin issue is stalled with the Council'.

You might be right OWTS but given that it (the Moorabbin Council stoush) was spoken of over and over again by SFF as one of the main reasons the Incumbents had to go, I just reckon it is a curious statement. Surely he would know from Gdansky what the 'problems are?Oh When the Saints wrote:Would make sense ... Gdansky involved in property development.
Assume Westaway just meant he would get acquainted with the detail himself before commenting ... not that he wasn't aware of the basics of the issue.

Basically have had NO real detail
Original SFF material received over 3 weeks ago which outlined perceived problems.
Understand he had a short period in the interview though.
