I have a hard time believing that Judd or Maguire care much about the challenge facing the board. They might care about our lack of elite facilities, but not who our President is. Board challenges are the sort of thing that players care about. Nobody left after our coach was axed, and he was pretty well liked by some of the players. Nobody's going to leave on account of Butterss.

Funny that the board challenge is 'destablising'. Didn't Carlton go through the same thing less than a year ago? Didn't The Age write continuous puff pieces on Pratt every three days during and after the challenge? Seriously, our club is no more in turmoil than Carlton, yet they're apparently being considered. Makes no sense to me.

I agree VS, what would Judd care who is running what club. Judd and his manager are more interested in self interest.
I have been reading on this site about Luke Ball being finished, and to be honest, I was one that recommended he be rested. With Judd though he is a champion and after is opp. will be fine.
In my opinion LB was a champion and if treated correctly will be back to the champion we remember.
Do we really need a person like Judd in the club? We must look at the instability it may cause amongst the playing group. And when his contract is over will he just get up and leave?
May be I am wrong, but a player telling clubs not to bother, has got tickets on himself.

Pratt didn't challenge.

He was head hunted after the president was voted off the board and the board was split.

I agree with the rest of your comments though.

did you watch the footy show last week? maguire was on and he said that the board take-over does not concern the players at all and he is not worried about it. so i don't think maguire is fazed by it.

i was listening to the radio this afternoon and there was some interesting speculation that judd does not want to go to hawthorn because they passed him up for the draft and chose hodge. same with st.kilda, we chose ball over judd. i honestly think that is complete rubbish, but it does add to all this judd speculations and such.

i just really hope they sign up maguire very soon, because the longer he remains unsigned, the less likely it looks that he will be signed. although, the fact that he is overseas and his manager is also judds manager prob doesnt help either.

So Judd met Carltoon and Pratt at Raheen for lunch today and walked around Corruptus Oval.

Hutchy The Tossbag thinks he will go to Collingwood.

Info from TFS.

honestly after seeing what carlton has done smacks of desperation, and no player is worth that much effort in convincing him to play for you.

If they do manage to rebuild (which is still in doubt) in the next3 or 4 years they wont be able to sign half there players.

Probably but I must say that being walked around optus oval with the CEO having the plans for the redevelopment is a might more attractive then being walked around Moorrabin.

Why should SFF have contacted Connors at all they are not in Contol of the club and currently have no say on the running of the club or footy depts. Surely if RB loves the club as much as he claims then he should have used the relationship he has with Chris to at least express the interest the club regardless of whom is running the play has in him. If RB had of done this it would have been a big feather in his cap in a time when he needs as many votes as he can get.

In fairness stinger, Sammy wasn't a 23yo Brownlow Medal winning premiership captain when he signed for 5 years. 26yo at the time if I remember correctly.

If Judd wanted to come to St Kilda, we'd give him a 5year deal in a heartbeat.

R,W&B,
Unlike you are apparently trying to do, I was not trying to score any 'political points' in the current Board challenge.

I was merely commenting on the fact that Judd's manager raised the issue of the current board instability as 1 of the reasons Judd wasn't interested in the Saints. It seemed logical to me that if the challenger approached Judd's manager to tell him that they would support the Club's interest in his client, then the negative (board challenge and current instability) would be removed from the equasion.

and his OP blows out, he recovers just in time to play 3 games before his leg breaks and he's effectively out for 2 years...

one other issue with teams clearing salary cap room to try and get adcock and Judd can we not take advantage of them?

certainly teams took advantage of Footscray trying to get rawlings, selling overpriced draft picks, same with richmond trying to get nathan brown.

certainly adrian fletcher fell into the lap of brisbane as we tried to clear for williams, amongst others.

i think if we had a steady hand, our pick 9, all be it middle of the first round, can be a powerful bargaining chip for a team like say essendon, collingwood or carlton looking for a second round 1 pick.

i think in the past we have negotiated with respect (heath black pharkc him, begley, spider, hamill, brooks where we have paid a fair price) but teams have bent us over a barrell (ok we bent WCE over with FG, but aside from that, o'brien, hackland, knobel, guerra, begley, black back to freo, Hall)

i say we look after st kilda first and if we get a chance to screw a collingwood or a carlton we go for the jugular.

Besides the fact that we couldn't afford that much coin.

We still have a great list, with heaps of young talent.

I wouldn't even bother making a run at Judd, WCE want picks, we don't have them, simple as that.

Dal Santo would be the only bait, we just signed him for 3 years. Never heard of a team signing a guy for 3 years then trading him :?:

Lets work on who were gonna grab @ pick 9 then go from there.

I tend to agree TSM - I'm kind of over the whole Judd thing. Let him go.

(ok we bent WCE over with FG
Considering that the Eagles got Kerr through the FG trade i hardly think they were bent over. I'm sure both clubs did well out of that one

ok, there have been a number of thoughts about judd and the saints and other clubs, so i thought it was time to set the record straight with the real reason Judd doesn't want to come to St Kilda at the moment...

...is because on our playing list is one Michael Gardiner, and the reason he is refusing to talk to Hawthorn is because of their interesting 'culture'. And of course the reason he's leaving West Coast is not because of family or friends, but because of the same culture that has made up his mind to not go to Hawthorn. As to that culture and the various links - i'll let you join the dots.

But that should clear things up for you. Of course CJ can always change his mind going forward, but as of right now, that is some more inside info for you.

yes they did get Kerr but that was a quality recruit rather than swapping kerr for FG, kerr was taken in the 2000 draft at pick 18 and they got seirakowski

given some of the rubbish to pick 18, the WCE really snagged a gun.

realistically on form, Kerr would go no. 2 or possibly no.1 if the draft were held today. if they got say simon wiggins with pick 18, really you'd realise how much we won that trade.

Great post Dan. My thoughts exactly, there are going to be some talented players shuffled around in the pursuit of Judd, adcock and others. This is a perfect opportunity for a canny coach to effectively go to the bargaining table looking for a player or two a tier down from Judd and make some really good purchases

Carlton sacked two players for drug use and had a history of a former champion of the club dealing at the front of the social club. Collingwood had the woman from the supporters shop being busted for dealing. so whats stopping him from going to those clubs?
