I think that will now make him as the longest serving player in terms of years in history. I dont think anyone has played 21 seasons ever.

Will break the record for most seasons played.
Awesome, awesome achievement. Just shows how great the man is, he was WAY ahead of his time and can still keep up.

1 426 Michael Tuck Hawthorn 1972-1991 20 years
2 403 Kevin Bartlett Richmond 1965-1983 19 years
3 378 Simon Madden Essendon 1974-1992 19 years
4 375 Craig Bradley Carlton 1986-2002 17 years
5 366 Bernie Quinlan Footscray/Fitzroy 1969-1986 18 years
6 359 John Blakey Fitzroy/North Melbourne 1985-2002 18 years

10 350 Doug Hawkins Footscray/Fitzroy 1978-1995 18 years

but you can imagine how many games Harves would have played had he not missed many due to injury.

list of players playing ovcer 200 games- and of those really only those playing over 3-- anywhere close to 20 seasons,
Max- 200 games in 11yrs

That's terrific news, i just wonder whether having the rival ticket as favorites to spill the board has persuaded him to go on.
I can't wait till we get our framed photo of him.
Hopefully other players will follow suit and re-sign.

I can honestly say the players dont give a stuff about these board challengers.

Absolutely Brilliant!!! Onya HARVS!! Can we stick the icing on the cake for the legend in 08??? I bloody hope so!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

I am over the moon.

Was a very flat afternoon and evening as I considered that he might be gone.
Got out of the movies to a text message confirming he was going on.

Ecstatic!! :D

He'd be looking to push 400 games if he hadn't lost those 3 years to knee, shoulder and elbow recos from 99-01 I think... says it all

Oh When the Saints wrote:379 if he plays 20 matches next year ... that puts him 3rd on the all-time games list.

Should have the most Brownlow votes of all time when he finishes too.
Only problem is Gary Dempsey having won the brownlow during one of the two years the umpires each gave separate votes he got something like 58 or 62. So the other year (either preceding or following) he would've also scored a few one can assume. So technically he isn't really that deserving considering, but no doubt he was a good player.

Does anybody know the actual tally of the most Brownlow votes? I recall seeing recently that Harves is one of only 3 players with over 200 career votes (Dempsey also being one and I don't remember the third?)

Sorry folks, he won it the year before the double votes thing. It is still the reason he has heaps of votes though.

It was Lethal.

Sadly Harvs can't catch up 42 votes in this and next year.

You may need to look at some of the real old-time players lake Coventry etc - they didn't play as many games in a season back then so it may have taken more years to get to 300+?

Harvey is the consumate club man.

The day after GT was dumped he re-signed.

In the midst of the new turmoil he decides to go on.

Blind loyalty? Nah - thats just Harves.

Now please dont shout me down for this, but lets just hope he hasn't gone on for one year too long. On recent form you could say he is still worth a spot on the list.

The almightly one off that is the great Robert Harvey.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)
