Oh by the way, Brooksy doesn't even equate to the shoe polish on Rix's boots.
Longmuir when fit is a very influential player and is extremely useful to rotate through the ruck. Smart and skillful.
Blake (Mark, that is) wins a huge amount of hitouts and does get a bit of the footy around the ground. He averages 9.8 disposals and 17.5 hitouts. That is what you want from a backup tap ruckman.
Brooks achieved more in one game against Brisbane than what Rix has done in his 28 games. He actually had a positive impact on the team. Rix is praised if he isn't completely slaughtered in the ruck and gets a couple of handballs. He doesn't contribute, he just tries not to be a liability.

The problem with the statement about Brooks and Rix is that 2 coaches disagree with you otherwise he would have played more than 3 games in 2 years.
Hey MSG and Stinger give it a rest , seriously
Rix is our best ruckman at the moment, and has been for a while now. I hope Gardiner comes good but what if he doesnt and here you are in the next breathe wanting to get rid of a ruckman.
Mindless regurgitated drivel, try lifting the game a bit...?
Brooks in one game kicked a couple of goals in Rnd 22 when the lions had already departed the Gabba for the mad monday bash. Get real,

Again with the Brooks bias MSG.......
Your sig says it all. I honestly can't see why you rate him
Am completely in agreeance with plugger on this......
Time for the brains trust to start wielding the axe down there (I will loosely associate those 2 words with the clowns down at Moorabbin at the moment)
Exit stage right B Brooks - wouldn't put my money on him being trading currency either.
how about you lift your game....or better still stfu.....where have i mentioned brooks...except to say that a list of players posted by someone else know how to get hoild of a footy.....something rix has not done in a lot of games..ffs......

No he's not. Seaby, Biglands, Brogan, Everitt, Hale, Longmuir and Blake are good backup ruckmen. Rix is an ordinary 3rd-string ruckman who does not contribute to the team.
got that right....

backs my argument...pretty piss poor effort on the part of rix.....most of his possessions are from ruck infringements by the waqy.....

I don't agree with the all the Rix bashing that goes on here, he given more to this team than some other players have in recent years.
i like your loyalty luckysaint. it's a commodity that is sadly lacking in football nowadays.
but i'm struggling to remember what rix has ever given to the team. might be able to hold his place at the centre bounces but imo just does not do enough around the ground to justify a place in the side
Rix works well in packs with bodywork, something a few people on this forum don't know much about the value of, he brings the ball to the ground and also contests and works hard..something coaches value highly, its a pity some of our onballers don't get in there and get the ball at ground level a bit better...that's their job, not Rixs

What about pssessions and marks. Surely that is important for a ruckman otherwise we can just get 7 footer who can bring the ball to ground.
FFS - ENOUGH- RIX and BROOKS are both hacks, muppets, duds. Move on. We need a good ruckman. Neither of these two will ever be any good.
Gardner is the great white hope. We need to draft a young quality Ruckman in the next 12 months with a high pick and hope that KOSI and GARDNER can shoulder the ruck for the next 3 years until we develop the new kid.

He rucks better than anyone else on our list bar Gardiner and Kozi. Kozi is required in the forward line and Gardiner is injury prone.
Short of trading for another ruckman we could only pick up a used ruck in the preseason draft (where WB have a pick in front of us) or the draft. Rucks don't go from draft day to playing afl within the space of a year unless it's a freak like Luenberger (sp?). If he was delisted as many are calling for we'd have to play kozi a lot less in the forward line. So what would you rather, an extra two-three goals in the forward line per match or 12-15 possessions on halfback/midfield?
He's a good insurance on our list considering Kozi's and Gardiner's history with injury.
