Some interesting comments on Simon Godfrey in the Sun this morning.
26 years old and has been delisted from Melbourne.
Has poor kicking skills, but is as tough as nails and could play the Powell/Keogh role very well for us.
Is quite a good tagger, and would add a physical defensive edge to our team that will be missing with Baker out for 5 weeks and Attard for the season.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.
Not sure we need another poor kick in our side and when they say godfrey is a poor kick they are not wrong. He is really bad and with RL game plan I am not sure turnovers are good.Oh When the Saints wrote:Some interesting comments on Simon Godfrey in the Sun this morning.

If the GT era taught us one thing.... is that you would have to think long and hard about recruiting any player REJECTED by another club.......for there is normallya very valid reason for it.
Like Powell, more recently Attard, there are always some exceptions...but it is very low % play....when there are so many other untried players about.
Godfrey is 26...so you would think is time is past.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Advantages
1. Cost nothing - probably minimum wage
2. Is experienced and has proven he can tag at AFL level - played some great footy over the last couple of years
3. Has 3-4 years in him (around 60-70 games)
4. Will give us the defensive edge/tagger we need in Baker and Attard's absence; can protect our onballers
5. Is tough-as-nails and gives 110% every time he takes the field
Disadvantages
1. Average kicking skills, although his kicking is no worse than Powell's in his last two seasons with us
2. Struggles to win a lot of the footy at times
3. Delisted at the age of 26 when he should be in his prime
Basically IMO he provides better depth on our list than we have currently from players 30-38.

I would take a Godfrey, he isnt too bad
Was the fittest player at the Demons, i think they will miss him
Other players to ponder....from Brisbane, just spoke to someone and they said these players are on the chopping block
Cameron Wood, Beau McDonald, Ben Fixter, and Matt Moody
I would take Moody, they picked him up with our pick we traded them for Gram
Also need a ruckmen if we cant get Jolly or Seaby, we should give 80k to McDonald

Would definitely look at Moody ... he played some great footy in '06 for the Lions and would provide some valuable run for us.
Beau McDonald is another Michael Rix ...
Wins hitouts but is absolutely useless around the ground. Very injury prone and a poor tap ruckman anyway.
Would give us less value than using Blake in the ruck every week.

Would definitely make a play for Moody. As mentioned in a few previous threads, can provide a lot of run and has played some great senior footy already! Does anyone else think Ben Fixter is worth a spot? For depth obviously, but a handy small backman who can do a defensive job up the field as well?
The Saints are coming!
If most are willing to trade Primsall for pick 9
Just imagine what other players we could pick up.
first round pick, you could almost get a top 10 in any club....
why go for a player who only played 4 games., yes he is good but not worthy of pick 9
I think Priddis would be worthy of that spot
Saints get Priddis and Eagles 1st round
Eagles get pick 9 and Steven Baker

Wouldnt think Baker would be on the possible trades list, I for 0ne would be very disappointed to see him go.Batnoe wrote:If most are willing to trade Primsall for pick 9

I never said that it was a realistic trade ... If it was offered to us, I would take it in a heartbeat, but it won't happen.woooosaints wrote:there is no way eagles would trade priddis for baker and pick 9 baker isnt a required player for them and if judd leaves they need all the star onballers they can have and priddis is a star

with the judd trade opening the whole trade scene up could geelong be looking for a first round pick to get judd?

My wish is that we use our draft picks wisely for a change.
No9. Alex Rance W.A., 194cm. Best junior CHF FB in the country. If gone by then, Cyril Rioli, give us some real pace on the forward line and mid field.
No.26. Best young ruckman available.
No.42. Mid-field if we picked up Rance, or best CHF?FB available if Rioili taken at 9..
No.58. utility.
If we managed to Trade one of our players for a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I would stick to the same format, just have a better selection for those picks.
I would look to take another ruckman, midfielder, and utility type in the rookie draft.

Would love to get Chick and Godfrey. Very good players maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder. If we can not get them chase Moody. Couldnt get a regular game for the Lions but a star in the making.homework wrote:maybe
