My recollection is that Nathan Burke played game 300 in Canberra in a game where Malcolm Blight was coach. Blight was criticised for playing Barry Hall all day at full back.
If I am right, it certainly shoots down Saint Dippa's assertions.

Depends on what he's scooping the inside of Killa, perhaps he's getting his scoop direct from the dunny cleaners!killa_gram wrote:Mate, your not the only one with the inside scoop and your version of events seem to be way off what others of us know.
Blight was given the boot because he didn't like getting off the golf course long enough to watch the players train, spent a whole off season making the players run and not allowing them to practise with footies, seems ok if their going to switch to athletics, but for a footy club, how were our skills that year just quietly?
I'm sorry, you've gone through all the trouble to find out what this actually says and it really is quite insignificant.

The key take home message from Burke interview:
- Current board has only achieved profit through drastic cost cutting and had no plan to grow revenue, and build the Football department to a level that will enable us to compete sucessfully with the other big clubs.
- We have the LOWEST reveune base of all footy clubs...this is a sad reflection on the current board, given our size & opportunities
- All other Melb based clubs have moved forward with their training facilities & plans, but we have stalled and are floundering

Well gleaning from that & this morning:
*they plan to increase revenue & have dedicated sponosrship person
*the medical side will be a priority (said he applauded what Ross Smith was doing)
*player recuitment will be ramped up...
We need exact detail though...ie exactly how will they grow revenue???

Which is exactly what is needed. Why have all the good ppl left our organisation? Why are sponsors bailing out? Why aren't we standing up to head office more vociferously? Why haven't we started our re-development project yet? The Doggies have!! So have the Kangas!! Why was Archie Fraser ready to resign as well unless the board was challenged. Why is Johnny Beveridge driving himself around watching kids play footy whilst other clubs send teams out on planes? This year - our board has appeared to unravel. I think we are idling in stationary at present - and we need to slip into top gear and get going again. We have a good coach - now let's get our act together and challenge for a bloody flag.saintsRrising wrote:Well gleaning from that & this morning:

I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

The current board have started on the bottom 2 already. Not sure on the other though.Leo.J wrote:I would n't mind hearing how the current admin are intending to achieve this also.saintsRrising wrote:Well gleaning from that & this morning:

Indeed..
*AIS guys hard at work.
*I know a Surgeon that was asked by the saints to go to London to bone up on the latest soccer recuperation methods.
*Ex -Geelong guy has already been hired for recrutment....and as of last trade period more resources in WA for player spotting.
*extra assistants in total numbers hired includinga 100% development coach
*Football manager hired (even if some are unhappy it is Ken)
My mail is that RL got stuck into the Board about the training/medical side and since then there has beena large turn around.
Ex club Doc I spoke with said that previously medical advice was being ignored at times by JB and coaches....however RL is more keen to make the most of medical advice.
However not much seems to have happened on the revenue side...

I know I'm going to get howled down, but is anybody worried about the way NB seems to be handling these interviews?saintly wrote:from my recollection debt was got rid of at the geginning of this yyear or maybe last year year. not 3 years ago.saintsRrising wrote:Said Debt was got rid of 3 years ago.....so therefore spending could have been ramped up from 3 years ago
Is it just me or does he sound out of his depth in this?
He is being asked questions about 'politics' and not on 'football matters' which is his area of expertise.
I got the same impression from AT during his interview with Doran.
I understand they are the 'public face' of the challenge but I'm wondering if the alternatives would not be better served by having people who understand the off-field boardroom issues discussing that aspect, rather than these 2?

I though Burkey spoke ok.
I don't mind if he is not polished...as long as what hesays makes senses.
Likwise I could not understand all the howling by some that RB was nota plosihed TV performer.
What do you want...good Board members....or media stars???.....like Bedwell for example!!!!!!!!

I agree and actually said earlier that i hope they dont do that. They are obviously doing it as they think they will get publicity and more votes this way.Mr Magic wrote:I know I'm going to get howled down, but is anybody worried about the way NB seems to be handling these interviews?saintly wrote:from my recollection debt was got rid of at the geginning of this yyear or maybe last year year. not 3 years ago.saintsRrising wrote:Said Debt was got rid of 3 years ago.....so therefore spending could have been ramped up from 3 years ago

With Board spots being limited I think it is a poor use of resources to have both NB and AT on the Board.
It would be better to have someone else with practiced Board and Business skills...and one should be replaced.
It needs to be about have the best possible Board Team.....and I think 2 ex players with littlke business experience does not achieve this end.
