Yep. We could have taken him in the national or pre season draft, but was too young to rookie-list.

Clarke was a short term replacement to fill a role left vacant when Ackland left. We gave up nothing, and got very little, and now his retirement addresses 1 of 3 required delistings (with the other 2 taken up by Gehrig and Thommo, and further de-listings are only necessary for rookie elevations, or if we seriosuly want to free up a list space).

No harm, no foul.

was worth the punt.....remember Lyon inherited a lemon as far as rucking stocks were concerned, so not much lost in the trade, and little gained.

If you nominate for the national draft then you are in for the pre season draft as well. I'm not sure on the exact rules, but there is an age limit on the rookie draft. Maybe if you were a bottom age under 18 player, you can't be taken as a rookie.

Anyway, considering that he was in the pre season draft he would have been able to nominate his own salary.
