Carlton & Hawthorn...pfft!!! Massive drawcard, that!

Once again, Saints being rodgered by Andy. SOB must go!

Time once again for the pres to stand up to this clown. I am sick of our club being the AFL's punching bag.

Discraceful if they give it to someone else after we claimed previously claimed it.

BUT

In reality all these cosy blockbuster "arrangements" are ALL against the spirit of a fair draw / level playing field.

If we are not going to play each side twice, then the draw should either
- be totally random
- or structured so that over a period of years all sides play each other an equal number of times home and away.

And that should also apply to "premium" days like ANZAC/QB/Easter etc.
They should be either random or rotated.

While it is repetitive to point out the myriad conflicts of interest in the AFL, it is nonetheless important to document each and everyone of them so here's another with this Carlton v Hawthorn game. According to Caro, "a joint submission by the two clubs...has received the unofficial support of AFL Commission chairman Mike Fitzpatrick." Surprise, surprise.

Nuff said.

Actually if RB has any balls, he would contact Geelong (this years likely premiers) Hawthorn, (Jeff Kennett) Richmond, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Brisbane & Sydney (2 of the AFL's love childs) for a joint submission to end the cosy draw deals the other 7 clubs get and demand that the draw be done over 3 seasons ensuring that all sides meet 5 times over that period.
I would also implore every one in this forum lobby our club and the other 8 that they demand a real draw, not the Mickey Mouse one we have right now.

I am sick and tired of how the AFL treat the Saints, including the tribuneral decisions. What I would LOVE to see is for Ross to run an extra player out on the ground with 5 minutes to go in the game today and forfeit the game. That would get up Dimwits goat so much it would be great and we would get an earlier draft pick.

Yeah those tribuneral decisions are a real downer.

Sounds like Detritus is trying to pass the buck to the Commission: "Hey, I'm opposed to Good Friday football, but my views will be overridden by those of the Commission.

"Don't ask me, I'm just the chief executive officer."

FFS he has 3 kids under the age of 4, time he spent a bit more time with his very young family methinks....

Well lets hope that the AFL havent approached St Kilda since..and that our Pres was too busy with other things on his agenda to worry about it...

Why not have it between the 2 highest ranked Victorian Clubs from the previous season? Its early enough in the year that it would still be a highly-anticipated game..and the draw is not compromised even MORE (if thats possible) by having 2 more teams that must play each other on a certain day

Why not set it up as a reserved blockbuster game between Collingwood and Essendon as that would attract the biggest crowd as per ANZAC day.

Guys this is very frustrating for me. Firstly, I do not believe football should be played on good friday. but if it is going to be played, I would rather the saints get the profits of our sins than CARLSCUM!. and I tell you waht it is, it is the fact that Carlto nhave fitzpatrick as commissioner of the AFL. he is a plant, and they Carlton are a disgrace. They cheated to win premierships, and now they cheat by having their own person as AFL commissioner. So, I think we as a club need to get Fraser Gherig to challenge to be on the AFL commission. Fraser would be a great candidate, and with his great personality and willingness to work hard I am sure he could convince many that he is the right man for the job. Now we need to get him in there before the draw is released, so we must move quickly.

Fraser Gherig for Commissioner 2008!!!!!

Surely the Saints vs Demons could be the only match up possible on Good Friday.

With the outcome held over until the Sunday.....

that commission decision over the draw with Freo was yet another disgrace by the commission. you reckon if it was the other way around we would have been awarded the points. phh no. It is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that we get fraser gherig onto the commission. fraser is the only one that will have the guts not to be a puppet and hopefully sack that disgrace of a person demetriou.

JD I agree that we need a voice on the AFL commission. For too long we have been the laughing stock of the AFL and we need someone in there to stop it from going further.

Fraser would be a good candidate, but give him a break and a bit of time off. It will take him time to recover from the burden of carrying this team at times. Maybe in a few years, but it's too soon.

One man I'd like to nominate for this position is Stevie Lawrence. He tries his heart out for the club and was a fantastic player-would really articulate what we as a club stand for and strive for. He would be our perfect representative.

The AFL have screwed us over too many times, and it's time to stop. FFS, Carlscum have the worst list and we have the best by a mile on paper, but we don't get games like this. Wonder how much Pratt needed to pay the AFL for this. We should also look into the possibility of taking legal action.

The buck stops here, and who better to represent us than Stevie Lawrence.

well Raph Clarke, you've convinced me. Lawrence it is.

Now, they may ask him, why should you be on the commission. You haven't really been involved with the running of the game for long enough to warrant a spot on the commission. To which he should reply "You're right, I haven't had much involvement wiht the way the AFL administration works. But I've had enough to know, that the way the AFL administration works, has to change!"

Maybe they should join forces.

One thing I know for sure is that I won't stand for this no more.

Carlton are a rabble and won't be around for much longer.

We on the other hand are a very successful club with a proud and prosperous history-we deserve this game MUCH more than them!

Let them rot. Stevie and Fraser will set them straight!

No, not harry and not larry.

Me and JD just share the same opinions-I can assure you that i dont even know JD.

But he is right in the fact that we must stand up and be counted. Fraser will instill fear into them, and there aren't too many better representatives of the St Kilda Football Club than Stevie Lawrence-what a star!

very true, on the first point let's hope he will be our EX president very, very soon!

second point is too sensible for the current administration to understand.

At least with Ronnie now 6 feet under Good Friday footy is likely to happen.

Shame it takes a death of a commissioner for some commonsense to prevail!

Massively agree. Biggest joke the afl dishes out is the inequallity. Must be balanced over a few years, and your 3 year plan is a winner.
