Brooks vs Rix vs m Clarke
Keep hearing various opinions about who of these 3 would be best in the ruck for us.
So question to those who go to training...
I am assuming that there are ruck duels at training occassionally.
If so...of these 3....who wins the duels at training???

At least the lamp probably has an 'on' setting. Clarke's is well and truly rusted through.Dan Warna wrote:but rix > tall lampshade on wheels > clarke

Brooks should be compared to G, Rooy and Kosi and thats why he doesnt get a game.Dan Warna wrote:haven't seen rix get a mention in the local rag or be in the best for scorps...The_Dud wrote:i don't go to training, but my opinion would be

i've seen all 3 play at VFL and AFL level, and in this thread i'm judging them as ruckmen, as was askedDan Warna wrote:haven't seen rix get a mention in the local rag or be in the best for scorps...The_Dud wrote:i don't go to training, but my opinion would be

Rix has been in the best for the scorps a number of times, maybe not as many times as Brooks, but i'd say this is becasue hes spending more time playing at AFL level, unlike Brooks....
the last VFL game i saw us play against Tasmania, i saw Brooks flogged in the ruck a number of times by the nobody Tasmania ruckman
so to repeat myself (after seeing each play at AFL and VFL level)
effort - Rix > Clarke > Brooks
overall - Rix > Clarke > Brooks

Point taken - Lets be honest with ourselves they are all hacks.
I want Lasar Vidovich back. He was awesome!
We really need Gardner to be good for us. He is a talent but can someone make sure he stays off the party juice?

According to some, apparently Matthew Ferguson, Justin Sweeney, Clint Jones and Barry Brooks are all 'jets' or on the verge of being 'awesome players'...despite the fact they'd probably get delisted by Carlton right now.st.mart wrote:Yeah, 90 games in 10 seasons, he was a jet.......F*** we overrate players here.......anyone outside of St.K would remember him as a hack.....at best he was a back up to a young spida......at more often than not just a reserves player......Lazar was NO gun...

If Clarke was still 22-29 he would be one of the best ruckman in the leagueevertonfc wrote:According to some, apparently Matthew Ferguson, Justin Sweeney, Clint Jones and Barry Brooks are all 'jets' or on the verge of being 'awesome players'...despite the fact they'd probably get delisted by Carlton right now.st.mart wrote:Yeah, 90 games in 10 seasons, he was a jet.......F*** we overrate players here.......anyone outside of St.K would remember him as a hack.....at best he was a back up to a young spida......at more often than not just a reserves player......Lazar was NO gun...

Outside of some homework specials, given the fact Clarke was 22 in 1995, this is the most pointless post I have ever seen on this site.saintsrule wrote:If Clarke was still 22-29 he would be one of the best ruckman in the leagueevertonfc wrote:According to some, apparently Matthew Ferguson, Justin Sweeney, Clint Jones and Barry Brooks are all 'jets' or on the verge of being 'awesome players'...despite the fact they'd probably get delisted by Carlton right now.st.mart wrote:Yeah, 90 games in 10 seasons, he was a jet.......F*** we overrate players here.......anyone outside of St.K would remember him as a hack.....at best he was a back up to a young spida......at more often than not just a reserves player......Lazar was NO gun...

fergo would be chilling on the half back line for carlton earning a cool 200 g's yearly
sweeney would be ahead of eddie betts who is terrible
jones would be 'tearing up the wings' in tandom with carrazzo
and barry brooks would be the first choice ruckmen ahead of the obviousy hackland...
oh how the might have fallen and i love it

According to whom? I haven't seen a single post on here referring to them as 'jets' or saying that they're on the verge of being 'awesome players'. More often you see posts talking about how we're going to delist half the team because they're just not good enough.evertonfc wrote:According to some, apparently Matthew Ferguson, Justin Sweeney, Clint Jones and Barry Brooks are all 'jets' or on the verge of being 'awesome players'...despite the fact they'd probably get delisted by Carlton right now.

I want a list that's competitve down to our 42nd player, not backended with dodgy 'project players' who coulda/shoulda/woulda but won't make it.

no team has a list like that.evertonfc wrote:

Surely Ruck Skills and Disposel isnt of the same WORTH as effort.
Ruck Skills - 500 points
Disposal - 350 points
Effort - 8 points
Therefore overall it would be Brooks > Brooks > Brooks.

Tapwork
1. Clarke - Wins most of his contests and usually puts it to the right spot. Our midfielders aren't used to this and the amount of times they run over/past the ball absolutely s***s me. 7/10
=2. Rix/Brooks. Rix has poor tapwork. Probably wins more contests than Brooks, but a higher percentage of Brooks' hitouts go to advantage. Neither are good tap ruckmen. 4/10
Around the ground contribution
1. Brooks - Has beautiful skills, is a strong contested mark and reads the play well. Can go forward and kick goals or fill a hole in defence. 7.5/10
2. Clarke - Doesn't get a lot of the ball, but his skills are ok and he generally positions himself well. Is absolutely useless at ground level though. 5/10
3. Rix - Poor kick, ordinary mark, poor reader of the play. Hardly touches the ball and lets his opponent run loose. 3/10

So we want a ruckman Clarke has it. I hope those points are against each other and not oyther players in the comp because they are way to high.mad saint guy wrote:Tapwork
