Sam Newman -Hawks
My bro played for the Box hill Hawks for a number of seasons and at the time (from 01-04) said that there were a stack of players using all sorts of stuff. On a number of social outings he was exposed to a lot of different things from players on the Hawks senior list. He told me about this years ago. Said it was rife!

If Kennett has anything resembling a spine then he should stick by his word and sack them all.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

I saw one use miraculous talent on the weekend.
If he kicked straight it would have been an incredible display.
Better than Rooey at the same age and experience (and I think Rooey is in the best three KPP players in the competition and best 6 overall)
Has the ability to be an all time great and frightening for those who play on him.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Well IF it is Hawthorn and the injunction is upheld, Kennet won't be able to do anything as under AFL rules , the club would have no knowledge of any drug use.Selhurst Saint wrote:If Kennett has anything resembling a spine then he should stick by his word and sack them all.

I would think that the AFLPA who have said they are asking to join the injunction could claim that by releasing the names publicly, players would be risking being terminated from their employment.
For arguments sake, IF the club involved was Hawthorn, their President has publicly stated that he would sack any player found to be on drugs.

he said basically the same thing, about the hawks.
IMO the hawks have been rumbled.
bit of a worry....hay and thompson...two former hawks...both suffering from depression........i won't say anymore at this stage......

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

My understanding is that most Boards do get involved when "key" players are traded.plugger66 wrote:Not sure the president has much to do with delistings.Enrico_Misso wrote:And old caring compassionate Mr "Beyond Blue" couldn't unload them quick enough.stinger wrote:bit of a worry....hay and thompson...two former hawks...both suffering from depression........i won't say anymore at this stage......
And I would imagine that if the club doctors were aware these players had "problems" then Jeff would most likely have known.
And I don't think that sits well with his other hat.

The board would never get invovled with players of their standard. Maybe a rooy because he is the face of the club but for say a Sam Fisher no and he is better than those to IMO.Enrico_Misso wrote:My understanding is that most Boards do get involved when "key" players are traded.plugger66 wrote:Not sure the president has much to do with delistings.Enrico_Misso wrote:And old caring compassionate Mr "Beyond Blue" couldn't unload them quick enough.stinger wrote:bit of a worry....hay and thompson...two former hawks...both suffering from depression........i won't say anymore at this stage......

Maybe you are right Plugger66 that they wouldn't attract Board attention, but they were bordering on top class players.plugger66 wrote:The board would never get invovled with players of their standard. Nevertheless,
the irony of a club - led by a President preaching how important it is to recognise, sympathise, empathise, and rehabilitate people suffering from depression - then dumping two sufferers is irrisistible.
They were Jeffed !

We'd be fooling ourselves if we believed that there wasn't at least one player at every club who was using recreational drugs in some fashion. Its a massive issue and not a new one either. One must ask the question....how did Gary Ablett fly so high in his playing days??? Especially given what transpired after his career and the ups and downs of the man while he was playing....

It was lucky that Dildo was so 'drunk' he couldn't remember much about the night he left Spearmint Rhino with Hudson. Otherwise he might finally be able to explain why he spent so much time at the Bikie Gang HQ?
I'm sure I read a news report when Hudson was later arrested for the shootings in the City that the Hells Angels chapter he belonged to in SE Qld and in NSW had been involved in a 'turf war' over teh supply of illegal 'substances' to nightclubs, and that he was a 'standover man' for them in their endeavours.

Well it didn't get much press but Aussie Jones retired from senior football citing stress and depression.
he remains a firm fan of the saint kilda football club and for one I respect his decision, life is bigger than football.
seems he is geniunely enjoying his time now.
