Sorry you must have been home watching a video of a game from a number of years ago.

There is no better user of the footy at our club than Dal Santo.
Last night was no exception.

Dal was a bit disappointing again last night: although his effort can't be faulted.

I don't really understand why Lyon uses him to do so much grunt work when his attacking skills are potentially so devastating. I would have thought that the likes of Birss or McQualter (or Thommo when fit) could be used in those roles and Dal could play further forward. If that means leaving out X or the semi-fit Ball, or doing without Leigh Fisher or Attard or someone, so be it.

The way Dal has been used this year is like driving around the outback in a Bentley IMO.

Dal Santo's major problem is his failure to get "in and under". Prime example, the ball was there to be won, there was one Saint and one Eagle (I think) on the ground fighting for it, while Dal Santo just stood up and waited. In the end it was a ball up.

I think Dals major problem is he doesn't do any defensive work, watch him without the ball and he'll just tail off his opponents when the ball is in opposition hands, for a team that plays the type of football that we do I'd think that would be pretty unacceptable.

Yeh.....Didnt impact the game like he should....

And I took some note of his work off the ball....Very little urgency to find a man when defending at times during the match....

Disagree. I've been critical of Dal in the past but thought he was good last night. Although he wasn't in and under he did some tough things off the ball e.g. valuable sheperds, etc.

For a player with silky skills, most of his disposals were very ordinary.

Agree with you. We need to see Dal forward of the centre more instead of wasting him in the backline.

My biggest problem with Dal is that he doesn't run enough, and isn't one bit accountable. Too many times I see him 5-10 metres behind his opponent and making no effort to catch up.

I love Dal but he definately plays like a millionare sometimes, swaning around trying to get Brownlow votes.

If he wants to be held in the same regard as Ian Stewart he's gunna need to get whole lot tougher and willing to get his hands dirty.

He regularly over finesses in the ball and the second half of last night's game was no exception.

Dal has all the skills but doesnt do the hard running to man up when we do not have possession. I watched him closely last night and he refused to chase Fletcher when the Eagles had possession preferring to sit off him hoping they would turn it over .

We need Dal to attack the person with the ball . Maybe some rugby training at attacking the body with the ball .

Its fine having the silky skills and yes he does have them but you need to get down and dirty in a pack situation sometimes or at least tackle like you mean it .

It was left alone to Hayes to do the hard work in the centre , with a little bit of help for him we could have pulled it off last night.
