Correct.

At least we have history where one of our legends has produced male offspring who played great football (until Michael did his knees) although it was before the father-son rule and drafting. Gives some hope for the future.

What is the worst tribunal decision in the history of this club ?

There was two that related to massive missed opportunities.
The best known and still mourned was Big Carl copping 4 weeks and missing the premiership, though despite it being harsh there is not much doubt of his guilt.

Another one that stills annoys me is when Plugger copped 4 weeks in R9 1989 after McKenna was hanging on to him refusing to let him go. Plugger swung an arm back and was unlucky to contact his head, McKenna went down and mostly hurt himself as he hit the ground. Neil Busse (Essendon prick) gave him 4 weeks. I actually wrote Busse a letter at the time - never got a reply but I felt heaps better.
This was a massive blow as it was Round 9 and Plugger had already notched up 70 goals. There was 13 rounds to go excluding finals so he was well on track to smashing the 150 barrier. He was in the peak of his form and anything was possible till that disgraceful call. Sure glad we never got McKenna as coach.

Then there are the ones that just made no sense whatsoever.
No better example than this year when Bakes got 2 for ATTEMPTING to strike. This sets a new precedent which incidentally they haven't applied to any other case.
Bakes also copped another shocker a few years ago when he had 110kg of Alessio standing on his shin bone which must have been bloody painful so he attempted to push him off with his other leg and copped a kicking suspension !
Then there was Fraser's tummy tap on one of the dud brothers against Collingwood.


But the one I am thinking of was a very very very controversial/blatantly unfair one.

It involved one of our better players at the time.
He appeared to lose balance when chasing the ball and tripped over a fallen opponent.
Contact with the opponent was made with both his boots as he fell.
Neither player was injured.
Prevailing opinion of observers was that it looked like an accident.
But the umpire reported him for kicking.
At the tribunal the umpire exaggerated the story about the ferocity and deliberateness of the incident.
The tribunal accepted his evidence and came down with a massive suspension.
He was outed till the end of that season which was ELEVEN weeks plus we had the chance of playing finals.
There wasn't a formal appeals process then but StKilda even considered legal action outside the system.
In those days it was normal for the home team to invite umpires and opponents in for some drinks after the game.
The bitterness against the umpire was so extreme that for a time we banned all umpires from attending these functions.
(Compare that to GT's mild - and valid - criticisms !).

So who was the player, who was the opponent, where and when ?

Would have to be Bob Pascoe in about 1968...

Yes StC the player was Bob Pascoe.
Bob was a ruckman who played for us in the late 60s along with his brother Barry (who was also involved in a super controversial incident, but that's another story).
They both came from North.
It was 1968 Round 9 against Geelong at Kardinia Park.
The man he was accused of kicking was John Sharrock.
We played one final that year (eliminated by Geelong in the Semi) so all up it was a Twelve week suspension for an "accidental" contact.
The worst thing about it was that Pascoe was then labelled as a "Kicker" and I remember going to a game in 69 or 70 where the crowd screamed abuse at him every time he came near the ball.

Who am I??

Played 107 games with the Saints. A centreman who was the best in the competition for a couple of years. Prolific posession winner and beautiful kick but was often let down by his concentration. B & F winner and a Victorian representative. Quit the club at age 26 to take up a country coaching appointment.
