Twenty-nine Saints took part in this morning’s run at G.R. Bricker Reserve in drizzly conditions, however it did little to deter the leading Wilson.
Wilson held a near-50-metre lead for majority of the run, which only grew as he put the foot down in the final lap to be totally unchallenged along the final straight.
Hill and Garcia — side-by-side for the entirety of the run — were only separated in the last few yards in a sprint to the finish line of which the former came out on top, with Phillipou and Steele tailing only a few metres behind.
Callum Wilkie pipped Rowan Marshall on the final lap of a separate two-kilometre run, with untried defender/forward Isaac Keeler rounding out the podium of that group.
Draftees Tobie Travaglia, Alix Tauru, James Barrat, Alex Dodson and Patrick Said did not take part in this morning’s time-trial, with Max King (knee), Marcus Windhager (hamstring) and Liam Stocker (groin) among the players to sit out as they complete their respective recoveries.

I don't remember if he was up there in the time trials last year but good to see Garcia up there too. Hoping he can really lock down a spot this season given he is still rising star eligible.
Where is Liam Henry in terms of his rehab? Says his return is TBC still, and he wasn't mentioned in the group that sat out the time trial (King, Windy, etc.)
Hopefully him and Windhager are back to full training before or just after Christmas, both are going to be such good players in the future.
Can think of easier activities than 3km time trial in drizzling wet with three athletic freaks setting the pace.
Wilson's a show off and has given the coaching staff at least 2 problems. Where to play him to maximise his running ability and how to stop him causing injuries to the chasing pack bursting their guts not to be lapped.
Garcia has champ in waiting written all over him (although drizzle might have made that somewhat smudged. I Hugo.)
This is all very interesting but doesn’t mean a lot. What I’d love to know, does anyone know what time Wilson ran? How does it compare to last year when he won it? Do we have any idea what times are winning it at other clubs?
For all we know we’re above the rest of the league in running which would be great! Or, we’re kidding ourselves because the top 5 runners at say, the pies ran similar times to Wilson.
A bit more information from those who follow pre season closely would be appreciated

Doubt many would beat Wilson’s time, he’s not only quick he has great endurance
Agree, other than the elite runners like Harry Sharp & Marc Blicavs, Wilson would be in the next tier with probably only 6 or 8 across the competition.
Wilson also has decent speed which makes him more unique.
