Not a ball has been kicked even in preseason training yet, but with the draft complete now is a good time to consider who's moving where this year.

Not expecting our recent draftees to play AFL just yet, so will exclude them for now.

I think the real movers will need to be Nas and Owens.

Owens needs to play on the ball, be at every ruck contest.

RTB has stated publicly that Mitchito is a forward.
To be honest, I’m inclined to agree.
Provided he is the third tall type, I think that would be his ideal position.

Whatever they’re doing… kid needs to be able to run and keep up his agility. Good as he is… he isn’t a Tim Membrey type elite mark. Needs to be more about power and impact in the contest

I would hate to see him baulk up too match and get slow

I was at training on Friday, i only counted 26 players out on the field, however, they ALL kicked the footy.

I had hoped they were kicking the footy at training for the past 2 weeks. Would have been concerned otherwise. Thanks for the update.

Mitch has a lot of good qualities, but needs to be more consistent and work on his positioning if he plays as a forward- though he doesn't look a natural forward to me and I would love to see him in the back half.

May I add, he scares the opposition, creates chaos ball opportunities for other fwds, has the rare X factor, disrupts defences. Makes team mates walk taller. Terrific talent.

To me the plus mark for Keeler will be getting AFL games, and where I hope his development sees him getting such opportunity

That will be a real plus for St Kilda

The interesting one for me will be Butler and his ability to not only pressure with his pace but kick goals - absent this he may find his position under pressure (noting Higgins has led our goal kicking)

This is the time of the year when you speculate and anticipation is at its highest - then the real season begins

How much other sides will improve is also in the equation - so we have to not only keep pace but also improve relative to other sides

That improvement will either come from players improving or from the additions to our List

The only real loss is Battle as a component of our undersized defence but with a hardness to his game - and where, on size and disposal efficiency we have this loss covered (and where coaching expertise should not be overlooked)

On the plus side we add King, Henry and Windhager plus any of the kids replicating Wilson so establishing and impacting

The one thing which is for certain is that with the changing age profile there is the prospect of excitement with a genuine running side

Dangerfield and Stanley and Blicsavs not getting younger; Cripps shoulder not getting stronger: Daniher gone, Neale showing signs of wear and tear, Payne has a chronic injury; Port has to reinvent how it plays, find a forward; Bulldogs always appear worldbeaters on paper, but.., Sydney has a spanking facade but scratch the surface, Hawthorn much improved by stealth but kama may intervene, GWS may have plateaued - can Hogan carry them on his shoulders again?

Yes absolutely.

The competition is so close, getting a top 4 position is achievable for about 14 clubs.

Can it be turned into a premiership is the real question.

Neale with his wear and tear, is still one of the best and most influential mids going around, and will still figure in Brisbane probably contesting a premiership again. I think we are going to need a lot of luck to improve our position on the ladder, and can only see an improvement of one or two positions at best, but we're not going any further than elimination finals unless we have a huge improvement in our midfield.
