I can only assume this was an arrangement the club came up with to pay out his contract?

I suspect the suspect knee had a big say in it, as well as drafting tactics.

I read somewhere that doing it this way (delisting then rookie listing him) achieves 2 things ;-
Only 50% of his salary gets into our Salary Capas he's retiring through injury
The AFL pay out half his salary as he's retiring through injury.

If either/both of these are correct then I say it's a great piece of list management by the Club.

Might be a better option to keep a spot open for the mid season draft as neither Cole or Peckett maybe what we need.

We need fs and academy products, they strengthen the fabic of clubs.
But merit trumps quotas.
Let's see how they develop, I'm sure the club will keep a kindly eye on their progress.
They may be a bit unlucky as we have as strong a list as there has been for a long time.
