Irish rookie

Post: # 2083140Post chook23 »

ST KILDA has added to its big draft haul, with Irishman Eamonn Armstrong committing as a Category B rookie.

Armstrong, 18, will join the Saints in 2025 as they look to Ireland to bolster a draft hand that saw them take six picks this week in the Telstra AFL Draft.

Meath's Armstrong has impressed as a young player in the Irish Gaelic competition and was an important contributor to his team's success this season at that level. He has also been an impressive athlete, having represented Ireland at underage soccer as well.

The 191cm prospect is renowned for his speed and endurance mix and is considered the best under-21 Gaelic player in Ireland.

St Kilda signed Gaelic star Liam O'Connell last year, having previously had Irishman Darragh Joyce, now at Brisbane, on its list.

The Saints were one of the big players at this week's national draft, taking in six new faces, including gun pair Tobie Travaglia and Alix Tauru with first-round selections.

On Thursday night they brought in hard defender James Barrat, tall midfielder Hugh Boxshall, ruckman Alex Dodson and small forward Patrick Said.

That makes a full list of maximum of 44 players.
With Brad Crouch to be rookied in the rookie draft St Kilda has no more vacancies.
No rookies in the rookie draft, no train on supplementary rookies.
The only question is who got promoted from a rookie B to rookie A to make this possible.
I assume that was Angus McLennan because he has been around 1 more year than Liam O'Connell.

St Kilda could not challenge Geelong taking Lennox Hofmann due to a full senior list and now can't take Adrian Cole in the rookie draft.

I take that back.
You are only allowed 1 Irish rookie B
That means Eamonn Armstrong must replace Angus McLennan who must be promoted to rookie A.

If we move Crouch straight to the LTI list I think we can still pick someone up in preseason draft.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

More likely pick someone up as an SSP.

What does that mean for the Sandringham player we are supposed to draft?

Does it matter?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

As an aboriginal, I shiver but as a Sainter...I hope to feck so...we need an angry, miserable, rip ya tits off to get the ball lad.

In seriousness, I decided to have a look. Its a medical condition.
He's been "bald" in every pic online back to 12 yrs old.

Just looked at every google reference in 6 pages to the lad.

He is absolutely rock hard! This guy has a great sense of humour, had a laugh at a trans person, then immediately mocked his own immature homophobia ( he was 16 at the time).

He is a natural in front of the camera, he's won every award available at his age, he has been captain on almost every team he has played.

He comes across very humble, quite self depricating with a good world view, which is not overly common in young people. He has humour I'd say like Ricky Gervais.

He has suffered alot being bald as a child and he laughs appropriately at his bullies, himself and others.

Don't know if he'll ever be an afl player but he's a kick ass human.

Im more excited about this guy now than any other player we drafted.

Pulling for ya to make it mate!!
