But we didn't bolt in the 2024 premiership after being close runner up in 2023, and the pick won't be a top 5 talent.
Any advantage based on unevenly distributed circumstances is contrary to equalisation. Last night's largesse towards Brisbane was a piss take of MCG proportions.

I just had an impression fs and academy access was different. Certainly if a club has put years and resources into youngsters that club deserves discounted priority access.

Lol, 'essentially' doing a lot of work there.

The reality is, regardless of where they finished last year (except for 18th and maybe 17th) Brisbane were probably only getting those two guys (plus whatever junk picks they have left over and use).

So really, they were just lucky to win the flag in the year they had good kids also coming through.

And yes I think they should have paid more for them, thankfully that change is coming in for next year's draft.

I was saying it didn't matter where they finished, because, unless they finished last and could take someone before Ashcroft, they were still only getting those two guys plus some late change picks

Sure BNE are laughing all the way to the top 4, but it's the AFL and the rest of the comp that should be concerned. It should matter, like draw equity over, say, a three year period.

The points system just needs an overhaul, and allow clubs to go into future first round debt for picks until the points system catches up.

Also no discounts.

Also the NGA academies should just be run directly by the AFL in those states. There's no reasons to have the clubs involved other than for a competitive advantage.
