Patrick Said
Calder Cannons
CALDER CANNONS
MIDFIELDER-FORWARD
#27
Patrick Said
Height: 180cm
Weight:
D.O.B: 24-04-2006
Leagues: Coates Talent League Boys
STRENGTHS:
+ Agility
+ Clean hands
+ Consistency
+ Scoreboard impact
IMPROVEMENTS:
- Accumulation
- Size
A prospect who has flown under the radar this year, Patrick Said is rightly highly rated at the Calder Cannons and earned enough fanfare to warrant a state draft combine invite. The midfielder-forward's consistent stretch of form during the middle of the year was integral to Calder finishing as the top Metro seed.
Said is full of class with ball in hand. He often assesses his options nicely and shows great poise to side-step opponents, leaning on his agility to do so. His clean set of hands and neat skills make for efficient work in the front half of the ground, where Said does most of his work. While he often goes by foot, he hardly rushes.
Perhaps the most pleasing factor of Said's consistent season was his scoreboard impact. He kicked goals in all bar his first two appearances, tallying 23 majors in 14 games with a clinical conversion rate. What's more, he produced a stretch of five consecutive games where he booted multiple goals, even when running through midfield.
Improvements are difficult to pinpoint for such a well-rounded player, as Said tends to do a lot of things right. He could perhaps become a more prolific accumulator of possessions, having averaged 18.4 throughout the season, but is more a '20 and two' kind of operator. Size is what may hold him back as an on-baller, though shouldn't be a factor in his classy work up forward.

Re: Patrick Said
With Max Heath and Cooper Sharman having to be ungraded to the senior list, all 38 senior places are taken. So St Kilda will pass from now on.
They only have one rookie slot left for the rookie draft or train on supplemental rookie.
Adrian Cole and Lennox Hoffman will be hoping another club takes them.

Re: Patrick Said
Yes he can but then St Kilda wont have a train on place.
Lennox Hofmann taken by Geelong.
St Kilda hands tied, could NOT take another senior player.

Re: Patrick Said
We tied our own hands.
We must have rated Said higher than Hoffman especially as we traded for that pick.

Re: Patrick Said
Runner Up in the B&F at Calder
24 goals from 13 games
Could be another Hugo Garcia type steal!!!
