I am once again begging people to read the clubs release about the crest.
The new crest is larger on the guernsey. If you look at the old crest, the ribbon was wider than the sides of the crest, and it obviously was positioned below the bottom of the crest. If you draw a box around the old crest, you would see the actual shield shape was far from the border of the image. The removal of the ribbon allowed the shield shape to take up the whole area, allowing for it to be larger on the guernsey.
I agree though that it should be above the front of shirt sponsor, but it has been this way for a while and don't imagine that will change any time soon.
