Re: LDU
BUMP
Trade period for another year is behind us. Hopefully the club picks up some exciting talent in the National Draft
As far as attracting a free agent next year, I think the focus for Ross and the team is to to continue playing aggressive and free flowing footy (similar to our last 8 rounds PLUS similar to Hawthorn and other top 8 teams in 2024). That's what will attract free agents
Number 1 target is LDU and we are front of the pack according to Mitch Cleary

Re: LDU
tony74 told us ages ago that LDU is on our radar.
He's never told us outright which player we're targeting- this is a first.
edit : it was 5 Apr this yr.
'2026 people. War chest, LDU plus plus' in response to a question about us playing finals

Re: LDU
NM would get a first round compensation pick immediately after their own pick so that may well be pick 2.

Re: LDU
Unlikely to be that low. Their younger players will be that bit older and more experienced, and have brought in some solid older players. Will not be a threat, but will keep off the bottom.
Tigers will want F1 to add to this year's haul. They will be content to bring in young talent before the Tassie picks start.
They have lost a lot of experienced players and will be blooding their kids.
WCE will still be poor.

Re: LDU
Just my opinion, but I doubt a guy who I assume has never played in a final is going to change clubs to another bottom dweller or mid range floater.
I think we would need to play finals in 2025 and show we are on the up.

That makes sense DB, as there'll be a lot of the top teams lining up for his signature next year.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 01 Nov 2024 2:36pm Just my opinion, but I doubt a guy who I assume has never played in a final is going to change clubs to another bottom dweller or mid range floater.

I have long thought that with Ross Lyon's connection to Fremantle, St Kilda will be targetting Andrew Brayshaw who is also at the RFA crossroad next year.
Either would be great....

Re: LDU
May depend on Freos next coach (when they sack Longmuir mid season). If Gerard Neesham is brought back I think we would be a really good chance.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Fri 01 Nov 2024 3:09pmThat makes sense DB, as there'll be a lot of the top teams lining up for his signature next year.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Fri 01 Nov 2024 2:36pm Just my opinion, but I doubt a guy who I assume has never played in a final is going to change clubs to another bottom dweller or mid range floater.

They are both exactly what we need.
If we don’t land anyone this time next year, we are going to look pretty foolish.
