With Membrey now officially delisted there are 5 places available
Picks 7, 8, 32 & 47 likely to used in the main draft.
Isn't it six?
7 out (Membrey, Battle, Ross, Bonner, Campbell, Allison, Van Es)
1 in (Macrae)
St Kilda started 2024 with the maximum of 44 players but was able to list another player (Max Hall) at the mid season rookie draft by moving a player to the long term injured list.
But St Kilda must start the season with no more than 44 players.
Hence officially only 5 places so far with Paton, Hotton, & Hayes yet to receive a new contract and future of contracted Crouch in doubt.
Thanks Ace.
I guess it will be six when Crouch is sorted. Possibly more depending on Hayes, Hotton and Paton.
We might keep Hayes as backup now that Membery is gone don't really have a lot of dept in the tall forward department if injury's occur.
Camanti, Sharman, King, Keeler un tried.
Getting another ruckman who can play should be the priority it gives us flexibility with Marshall going forward.
They are not easy to find maybe we might be lucky or the club has identified someone all ready.
Hayes is to small for a ruckman of any substance in the AFL maybe in SANFL it was ok.
Please no s*** canning the club. I'm sick of the experts on here.

I joking told my Carlton mate SOS is clearing out the list.
His response:
"Well mate he filed our list with about a dozen GWS cast offs from the group that made up their inaugural list when he was list manager there but unfortunately most ended up being list cloggers so hope you have better luck"

I doubt RTB will be allowing SOS an open slather situation.
I know. However, I would love to know what the grand plan is. It looks like the club has backed RTB & SOS right in. I doubt a first-year coach would get these credits in the bank. High stakes.

Yes the delisting of Hayes, Hotton and Paton officially increases the vacant list spaces to 8 but with Crouch already employed a Colliers real state it will effectively be 9. Even if he is retained on the list he will be able to be transferred to the long term injury list allowing a mid season rookie selection.
3 more places allows all 4 draft picks to be used, at least 1 delisted free agent to be added and then have space for a train-on rookie plus couple of rookie selections.
Expect Sharman and Caminiti to be promoted to the senior list to clear space on the rookie list

Haven't Carlton been finalists recently?
Is the corollary that Voss is a genius coach held back by a poor team.
Carlton supporters are perpetual negative Nellie's so be wary of their moanings. Who should SOS have recruited for Carlton instead of the players he brought in. Rewriting the history of Princes Park?

The grand plan is obvious.
For interest sake, how do you see the cost/benefit scenario of keeping those three most recently delisted vs recruiting new players.
What would those delisted otherwise bring to the team in terms of improving in 2025? See any opportunity costs in retaining those chaps? See them as high achieving contributors? What risks are you alluding to?

1. Battle
2. Membrey
3. Allison
4. Van Es
5. Ross
6. Bonner
7. Campbell
8. Paton
9. Hayes
10. Hotton
Is this right?
Crouch apparently done!!!
I have our likely available spots as 9.
The 10 delisting's above. Macrae added and Crouch likely to go brings it back to 10. I think we had to place Van Es on the LTI to bring in Max Hall so that brings it back to 9.
That is a lot of spots to fill. We will need to split picks, draft recycled players, and maybe leave a few spots vacant. We will also need to draft a player from Sandy as promised although that cupboard is pretty bare.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."
Yeah, good points. You're a smart man. I think I was emotive hearing the news yesterday and was worried that lack of draft picks meant we would add in recycled players from other clubs. I am all for 'draft & develop'.
My younger mate at work was a top footballer (on-baller) at Werribee and we were discussing his game against Sandy where they thumped Sandy by 76 points last year. I asked him about the Saints players that day -
1/O Hotton - just does not get enough of the pill
2/ Billings - did not even notice him. Was in a fwd pocket.
3/ Van E's played forward that day and was too busy mouthing off to Coughlan (ex-saint) that they were a shitty standalone club - despite not getting a kick. This is not uncommon from AFL listed players from all clubs which really s***s me.
4/ Leo Connolly was on ball and ran around like a chook without a head
5/ Jack Bytel he said had lost all power (long term injury)
6/ Did not notice Oscar Adams
7/ Highmore played Ok
8/ He was shocked how big a unit Cordy was
9/ I think Paton played in a back pocket, but I don't recall what he said about him.
The winners that day were Jones & Heath.
Might be of interest to some but I find it interesting how many have now been delisted.

I here we are trying to split one of our early picks and get from GWS 16/21 its a 300 point favour our way but GWS get in top 10 and we still get 2 first rounders its worth a try.
Also I would say we might get a KPD in delisted Free agent's and maybe a Ruckman if any avaiable.2 academy boys in Hoffman ,Cole 4 picks in draft and maybe Peckett he hasn't nominated us as father son so not sure 1 spot for Sandy player 8 with Peckett 7 without him, spots and Maybe a SSP or Mid season draft keep crouch until we know what we are looking for.

Have we somewhere confirmed we will take Cole & Peckett?
I haven’t read anything official, however it’s written often on this forum suggesting it is likely.
Personally I see Cole as a late pick or rookie and don’t see Peckett as either.
On the AFL site, I was listening to some interview (can’t recall which one now) and they said that St Kilda had just put in the paperwork for Elwood Peckett to be able to nominate as a father/son pick….. or something to that effect.

Forgot about Hall, didn't seem to have the impact we hoped at the back end of last year but hopefully with a good preseason can show something.
wasn't Sharman picked in a mid-season draft as well...
Cooper had played a lot of Vic Country footy before going to SA.
You're right about a pre-season, Cooper needed a pre-season to build a solid base.
It's not just the fitness, it's also the player learning how to manage a more intense workload and recovery from intense training.
We're all different and each guy needs to learn that what works for them re recovery.

yes Loris, was just watching "Gettable", so they have lodged paperwork for Elwood Peckett
Not counting Crouch as he will shuffle with the rookies. No rookies have been delisted.
Out (10): Membrey, Battle, Ross, Bonner, Campbell, Allison, Van Es, Hotton, Hayes, Paton.
In (9): Hall (r), Macrae, Carroll, Travaglia, Tauru, Barrat, Boxshall, Dodson, Said
Leaves 1 place for Rookie draft or NGA/FS selections.
