Re: Macrae article in Herald Sun
we know his numbers in 2023 were much lower than his career average, because (one reason) Beveridge preferred others in the midfield and Jack was maybe not quite best 22.
Possibly there were ongoing niggling injuries?
Just guessing, no idea.
I'm sure our medicos checked him over the way we get a PPI for a used car we're thinking of buying...
David Misson and gang are pretty good

Seems like a mature, intelligent fella who will be an excellent role model, both on and off field, for our young blokes.

That article is much like the clip on St Kilda's website:

Macrae may well prove to be a very good pick up by the club, a definite upgrade on Brad Crouch and an excellent mentor for the team's developing midfielders!
"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

Re: Macrae article in Herald Sun
I'm bloody excited by the pick up. Of course his numbers were down this year. He was injured at the start and Bevo either played him out of position (fwd) or gave him limited minutes or had him as sub.
Bevo has different priorities which is fair enough but we need him. A bloke with a big body who knows how to find the ball and can deliver it. He'll be great for a few years helping our younger mids develop. A fantastic pick up and I loved the article. Said all the right things and left the club despite a whole heap of money on the table. He left for the right reasons. He'll still get that money but that's not what's motivating him. He has something to prove and ppl with something to prove often end up being the best pick ups, especially if they have already shown that they're more than capable.

Re: Macrae article in Herald Sun
Always worried about getting old players from other teams especially after hanners but at least we didn’t sell the farm for this guy.
Re: Macrae article in Herald Sun
IF he is so superior to Crouch that will do me fine
Crouch has been a very good player for us - and if he can continue so much the better

What Macrae has over Crouch is better disposal and more score involvements. He's the perfect replacement

Is McCrae on more coin than what Hannebery was.
Just asking for a saints supporter who is concerned about the club's record of incompetence at recruiting.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

McCrae is far from another Hanneberry situation or I hope not anyway.

His injury history is nothing like what Hannebery had. He’s also considered a model citizen, a great influence on our young mids. Not sure everything about Hanners screamed ‘leader’

That he came from the 'Bloods' culture was what had us enraptured.

Taking the piss for sure, but my neck hurts from the quick turn-around
