Once when the NTFA was playing the NWFU , Bingley who was captaining one of the sides ran across and punched the opposing captain in the face whilst the sides were lined up and the national anthem was being played.

I once spoke to Tuddy about Bingley and his nullifilling effect on Tuddy during that grandfinal. Tuddy was none too complimentary, not that I gave a rats. Said before the game started he held out his hand for BIngley to shake, but according to Tuddy our little Johnny just spat in his face.

A rough, tough man was John Bingley.

He won us a Grandfinal though.

Didn't Billing refuse to take part in the victory lap? He was said to have felt he didn't deserve it because he sat on the bench all day.

Norm Goss and Mick McCarthy sat on the bench all day in the 1978 Hawthorn premiership. Mick said it was one of his worst memories in footy. It was still in the days of just 20 a side, so you'd think someone would get injured or run out of gas on the day. He added he didn't really feel a part of it.

What a shame. It must be what Michael Collins felt like when he piloted the lunar module orbiting the moon, while Armstrong and Aldrin went down and walked on the surface.

Easy done,had me thinking which was which

Yeah, it would be hard not getting on the field. I think that happened with a Melbourne player recently.
I asked him about his career - how many flags he played in -
1/ Played in the Saints Reserves Premiership (got pissed for a week he said)
2/ Sat on the pine during 66 (said he was lucky to get picked - a couple of injuries opened a spot)
3/ Was injured when Oakleigh won the flag - lost Liston by 3 votes and only played 7 games
4/ Captain Coach Narre Warren trying to tame the McCook boys - 1 kicked a 100 goals.
5/ Finished career at Mulgrave FC and won the flag
