Can I get paid overtime if I’m out with colleagues

Because I’m technically at work?

The good things about facts is that they're true whether someone agrees (or comprehends) or not.

The facts are its considered a work event under Australian law. If you can't understand that then its on you.

The lesson here is 'don't do rape skits at a work event', even AFL players should be able to grasp that one!

Its funny that people can't separate fact from fiction.

I'm still waiting for the full detailed report from the bucks weekend a few of my employees went on. See what action needs to be taken.

Employers must be aware that establishments outside the workplace can still be considered such if there is sufficient connection to work and work colleagues.

Just stop embarrassing yourself Curly.

Just about to go in and sack 12 employees. Six went on a hens night 6 on a bucks weekend. Heard there were strippers at each.
I would feel sorry for the 6 women working under Curly if they weren't imaginary.

Imagine being them at an end of year function where Curly is holding court with jokes about sexual assault. Which we have established is all fine in his book

An interesting point of comparison.

Remember the nude photo scandal back around 2010.
Photos were taken privately. The players did it in house with all consenting parties…
Then the photos were stolen off a laptop and leaked.

No internal/external repercussions for the players/club even though they copped it in the media for an age. Not in public, no employees, done discreetly.

Looks very different to me

You see Oldmate because I live in reality that's just a shitful and actually insulting post. I was actually one of the first managers in the industry to have a female assistant manager and have had three since. I have an equal amount of both female and male staff in a male dominant industry. Also Oldmate as we know the rules we as a group over many years have no issues as we are also humans living in the real world.

Ok Curly, if this is all truth, we are going in to Christmas/end of year party season (the same kind of event the GWS players were at), so go in and make the same jokes/skits that the GWS players made. You have spent 8 pages establishing it is all fine so you should have no problems and face no repercussions for doing it.

If the Christmas party is a Work event no you can't.

But like I have said at least 10 times if my staff decide off there own bat to go out on a Saturday with each other night they can do what they want unless of course it breaks the law.

Yay we finally got there. So if a bunch of staff are at an end of year event, it is a work event.

Like for example if the players and coaches and staff of a footy club celebrate the end of their season.

I see a few lawsuits in Curly's future when he next gets his wang out as a joke in front of the receptionist at a "non" work event

Unfortunately for him his lack of comprehension of something isn't a valid argument against it.

No not what I said. Read carefully. A planned Christmas Party including management is a work event. Work colleagues catching up as a group off their own bat is not.

We all understand what you are saying. It just doesn't matter to the reality of what GWS did.

From the AFLs statement:
As part of the AFL investigation, the AFL Integrity Unit interviewed players and GWS GIANTS football department staff that attended the event earlier in the day.

The investigation found the club hired a venue for the day as part of the team’s end of season get-together and players separately organised a dress up theme of 'controversial couples.’
Emphasis mine (so hopefully you don't miss it for the 100th time).

- Players and staff attended (Not just some random grouping of players)
- The club paid for the venue (they didn't just randomly show up at a bar)
- It was an end of season event (not just randomly catching up)

Where are you going to shift the argument to next? Maybe because some have since left the club they shouldn't count as employees?

Curly’s just remaining wilfully ignorant so he can use that as a defence next time he gets in trouble for his actions at a “non” work party 😁

Shocking work place. AFL should refer itself to the Fairwork Commission and threaten the licence holder with licence cancellation. If it was unequivocally workplace behaviour.

Hopefully the poor think you have cornered at the "non" work Christmas party doesn't start talking about how the Grand Final sprint was rigged or anything, might get you a little too excited!

And you continue on like this is an opinion thing or up for debate, or just because you don't like it that that somehow changes the facts.

Its the law, it's black and white, no amount of Curly cryin' will change that. :)

Remember when Dan Hannebery allegedly injured himself walking down some steps at a private party?
Did St Kilda tell him he'd have to forego his salary and have to pay for his own surgery?

I think CURLY is very clever at doubling down on his original messaging. He likes to pretend that AFL players should be treated the same as ordinary salary and wage earners.

Sorry. They're not on 'ordinary' wages, and they have a responsibility to be role models whether they like it or not.

Callum Mills from the Sydney Swans injured himself last year at post season drinks and needed surgery to his shoulder. It ruled him out for most of 2024.

The Swans still had to pay him his base salary.

AFL footballers can't pick and choose what a function should be called, especially when that function is held at a public venue with staff present and with the possibility that video footage could become public and embarrass the brand and your employer.

It gets down to the players contracts and the behavioral terms and conditions.

If breached, the sanctions, suspensions and fines are warranted.

If not, the players association should take it to task and fight for revocation.

The player managers should ensure each of their clients fully understand the contract they have signed and the consequences for breach.

Then there is common sense, which in this instance is obviously non existent.

Regardless of what people did 30, 20, 10 or even 5 years ago, if you have breached your contract, bad luck.

I am assuming no dwarfs were involved and that the incumbent CEO isn’t going to laugh about it on TV.

Good for you Curly, got away with another few 👍

The most frightening part of your posting is not even the harassment, it’s that an illiterate moron can hold a managerial role.
