Brad Crouch?!
What’s the bloody story?’
Is he cooked or not?
So there’s no conjecture- the club needs to report what is going on there?
If he’s able to get back - he’s a big in
Macrae and Crouch win the footy

Re: Brad Crouch?!
I think it comes down to his contract. By playing in round one last year he triggered an extra year and the club is bound by it. If he stays and doesn't play any games he still gets a nice wad of cash. If he retires, he may not get that cash
The club is in a bit of a bind. The fact tha he spent two thirds of the season on the sidelines with actually no disclosed 'injury' means he has a degenerative knee that will not get better. If he doesn't retire, at some point in 2025 he'll be put in the LTI list and that will be that.

Shame Brad is going to miss the coming success. He held the line strong in the hard times.

Re: Brad Crouch?!
When are we allowed to officially put him on the LTI? He's contracted and his injury is due to playing football. Would we be able to open up a spot for him prior to any of the upcoming drafts? It would open up a valuable list spot, or would we have to wait for the rookie draft for that?
I know we'd probably need special permission from the AFL to do it, but what have we got to lose? The Pres. may as well ride his luck while he's in form.
We could also wait until the msd, pop him on the LTI and promote one of our rookies, leaving a spot to pick another rookie (read Irishman).
Help me out, someone who has intimate knowledge of the rules. It would be worth it to hear the infantile whining of purple if we managed to pull it off. ( The "purple - pull off", double entendre intended).

Re: Brad Crouch?!
I can guarantee you he will not play at AFL level again.
I imagine the club is still negotiating his exit. If it's too costly, the LTI option is available.

Re: Brad Crouch?!
If I were the AFL I'd not grant us any leniency. As he was a free agent the integrity of that should be mission critical.
So with that said, I think the AFL will let us exempt him from a list spot but not the salary cap.

Re: Brad Crouch?!
I’d offer him a 50% pay out and he can retire
That’d be around 300k and he doesn’t have to work a minute, lift a weight, run a lap, do physio again
He can do his new job full time- with 300k in the back pocket for never raising a sweat

Re: Brad Crouch?!
Thanks, mate. Likewise. I just had to post something about our Pres. and the furore surrounding our being granted pick 8, especially from our number one fan, "Purple".Scollop wrote: ↑Mon 21 Oct 2024 3:25amI'm enjoying your dry humour and wit.Nick DalSanto Claus wrote: ↑Sun 20 Oct 2024 10:10pm The Pres. may as well ride his luck while he's in form.

From what's on social media, the AFL media and the usual vituperative rubbish spewed by Purple, you'd swear Fred went up to AFL, mesmerized the entire management group, and demanded pick 8 as compensation for losing Battle.
I noted at the time that Purple was strangely silent when Norf was awarded pick 3 for that spud, McKay. Purple has a pathological hatred of our club, for reasons that are apparent only to him. Perhaps he's still crook on us for the 1997 preliminary final loss.
Anyhow, does anyone with an ounce of common sense believe that a club president, especially one with as little power and influence in the game as a St.Kilda president, could override the AFL and its rules? It boggles the mind.

If he wants full pay
Train every day, in rehab group. When deemed fit by med staff- play VFL - and not be able to work full time at his new job.

Re: Brad Crouch?!
St Kilda midfielder Brad Crouch has been delisted with the notion that the club will re-rookie him in the Rookie Draft despite having one more year to run on his contract.
The Saints will open a vacancy on their primary list by moving Crouch to rookie status, with it being understood the club's intent to split one of either Pick 7 or 8 to secure two first-round selections in next month's draft.
Crouch was rarely seen in 2024, battling injuries and form to limit him to one outing in the past 12 months.
Doesn't appear that he has been paid out if he is going on the Rookie list.
Is he going to try and play again or is he selling houses on game days.

Love it Skeptic. I have heard the local community is also hopeful that he might be able to retain his allegiance to the red, white & black colors and pull on the mighty saints ( Carngham Linton Football Netball Club) strip in 2026.

Crouchy is just simmering. I thought you said he was cooked. I think a slow cook is a way of freeing up the joints.
