Re: Keep Hayes
I raised the idea of playing Hayes in defence earlier in the year, but he has just had set back after set back. I dont know why Collingwood baulked after his medical, if thats the case then he may still have injuy concerns. He is not quick but is a smart player, he may be better suited to playing the Caminiti role and Caminiti moving into defence as you have listed.
Versatile key positional players and ruckman are a significant list void. Hopefully the club look to address this with bringing in some capable kids this year?

Re: Keep Hayes
In my opinion, if Hayes is the answer to our KPP and ruck deficiencies we have a major problem
Honest with some abilities but not to the level some on here offer
Hence he was not able to obtain an AFL opportunity until offered that opportunity by St Kilda

Re: Keep Hayes
That's why the club pays it's List management group the big bucks, to provide solutions to list weaknesses.
Our list when viewed critically looks like a bit of swiss cheese.
I hope these list gurus are on their game at draft time and into the SSP period otherwise it'll be another long year in 2025.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Keep Hayes
Hayes behind the ball will help him not need to play at 110% and get injured.
He was clearly overexerting leading to his injuries - possibly even on the training track.
The guy is a competitive beast. We actually need to hold him back a little.

Re: Keep Hayes
It's interesting that Hayes has not been officially delisted. The few times I saw him in action, I thought he stood up well. Would not be upset if he is given one last chance next year (assuming medically he is passed fit)

Re: Keep Hayes
If we got rid of him we'd only look to replace him with another spud (like Soldo) so might as well stick with a spud we know?

Re: Keep Hayes
I don’t think Hayes is a spud!
He’s played 8 games
In 3 of those games he was named in the best players
Body right- AFL capable

That’s not a very nice thing to say.
I thought you were better than that.

Re: Keep Hayes
Completely agree with BM here…
I’d rather gamble on someone that is decent quality if fit knowing the injury risk than someone that may as well not play if they are fit

Re: Keep Hayes
I’m confused.
He’s not good enough because nobody else gave him an opportunity before us?
Just ignore the fact that he looked good when he did play.
