I want pick 2

Post: # 2080593Post ace »

North only have two picks in this draft picks 2 and 62 so may be willing to trade down pick 2 to get another chance in this draft.
In practice that is one realistic pick.

Lets make it clear what you get with pick 2, you get the 3rd best pick after Brisbane take Ashcroft.
Even if they are able to delay matching some clubs bid for him he is still defacto the best pick.
That makes North's pick 2 worth pick 3 and St Kilda pick 7 worth pick 8 and St Kilda's pick 8 worth pick 9.
St Kilda's pick 32 will be around there but dependant on maybe 5 queue jumping picks ahead of it pushing it back but also picks being used as part of those jumps bringing it forward.

So pick 2 (defacto 3) is realistically worth 2234 points, pick 7 (defacto 8) realistically worth 1551points, pick 32 is worth 584 points
The offer would be picks 7 and 32 for pick 2.
The 3rd best pick should produce a better outcome for St Kilda than the 8th best pick.

Nice work but I would rather Keep pick 7,8,32 we could get 3 players in and being such a strong draft 32 would probably be a good player as well.

More good picks in this draft, just think this is the time to add more young talent to what we have picked up last couple of drafts

That's an atrocious deal for North

St Kilda has too many "good" players but is missing "elite" players.
You need an elite team to win a premiership, you need a good team to be an also competed team.

I would leave those type of decisions to the three professionals that the club employs and pays pretty well.

Whatever we do, the worst outcome will be us having picks 7 & 8. Nothing to cry about there

What number did Wilson go for?

And Wanganeen-Milera and Phillipou for that matter

Two more of them is preferential to one higher Draft Pick.

Plus, with more of these kids you build a culture - starting with Clark and King as high end Draft Picks

These are our building blocks

If anything, split 8 for say 11 and 14. With pick 9 gone we may still be able to bring in another pick for a F1st.

RTB has stated they were aiming to have three picks in the first round. I'd love to see us go to the draft with 7, 11, 14 and that other first rounder.

That's four. Two gun midfielders, a tall KP type, and a promising young ruckman, preferably Alex Dodson from SA.

I don’t think we are done yet. I think SOS will make a play live on draft night.
A couple of plays I am predicting.

Try to swap a future first for a mid to late 2024 first to grab someone “I can’t believe they were still on the board”
(See Liam Stocker a few years ago)

If the players we REALLY wanted are gone after our pick 7, we will live trade pick 8 to someone like gws for their 15&16.

A lot of these plays will happen once people see who lands where. I think there are going to be heaps of massive offers coming in for pick 8 on the night.

I’ve got no doubt we’ll sit back and let one of the powerhouse teams waltz in and snatch pick 3 and then complain about the strong teams getting stronger!!

Yep...You need an elite team, not a group of elite players!
We have the nucleus of a young elite team...Wilson (pick 18), NWM (11), Phillipou (10), King (4), Owens (33a), and Windhager (47a) form that nucleus. We keep adding top end talent to that and they grow into an elite team of really good footballers.
There are a few key elements that we are missing from that. Namely a really strong clearance mid and a good ruck back up for Marshall.
7, 8, and 32 will help us do that.

Please no, don’t let SOS near drafting or trading live picks.

Remember SOS trading the first live pick in the draft for Liam Stocker.

From memory he traded to 2019 Carlton first rounder for #19 in 2018 used on Stocker. 2019 pick ended up #4. Can’t recall if Adelaide got anything back.

I have no confidence is SOS.

Disastrous top 10 selections while at GWS, took a heap of GWS rejects at Carlton and now seems to want to follow that pattern with Dow & Kemp.

I’m sure it’s not all SOS’s doing with poor drafting record etc (it’s takes a village to f*** up recruiting), I just don’t see him as a high end strategist or list manager or overly bright.

Given this is expected to be a super draft, I think it would probably need some extra incentive for Richmond to trade out. Maybe a future second, or maybe 8 and a future first for 10 and 11 or something.

We could possibly get pick 2 by offering 7 or 8; 32 and next year's first pick. The question is, will we get someone significantly better with pick 2 than we would with pick 7 or 8? If so we should do it.

There is also the option of trading our future 1st and 32 for a third (later) first rounder.

I've got a feeling we are going to do something with pick swapping, as we appeared determined to keep pick 32.

I agree it would be a huge bounty to get #2 in this years highly rated draft.

I'd guess #8 + #32 and next years first would be the cost.

I think we will be trading picks around too.

The question might be what we plan to do with our NGA prospects, we would need points to match bids but if we don't plan on taking them we might be ok with trading up. Or if we do trade up, also picking up some junk picks for points

I'd start the conversation with 1st & 2nd in 2025 draft for pick 2. Then throw in 32 if needed. Imagine having picks 2,7,8 (before f/s)
