I'm not on that side of the argument, but a clear line would be the law.
Except we aren't talking about sending players to jail. We are talking about people making jokes in a workplace at another workplaces staff function.

This isn't the state punishing people, this is an employer punishing their employees. In my job I wouldn't get a few weeks off, I would be out on my arse, these players are experiencing a privilege that the majority of the public wouldn't get and people are still rushing to say they are being treated too harshly.
Wasn't a work function.

It was 100% a work function.

And please post a source for where you're getting your "they weren't there, it was CCTV afterwards" info.

I'd also love for you to justify how doing a skit joking about and re-enacting Jarrod Hayne raping someone is acceptable when both GWS and the AFL have very strong public stances regarding violence against women.

I know you stand firmly in the "boys will be boys" and "she was asking for it" category when it comes to this types of things, but its always interesting seeing the mental gymnastics of you trying to justify it.

Completely untrue and being heavily involved in a club that has over 100 netballers 100 female footballers its a garbage thing to suggest.

Trust me I’m not worried.

What I am worried about is where we are are headed when people are selecting when or if they will be offended.

I am sure those that live in imaginary worlds don’t see how ridiculous this is.
No-one is selecting when or if they are offended, they are telling you they are and you aren't listening.
No one cares how offensive you are in your private life, just don't expect that everyone should like it if they hear it.

Talk about living in an imaginary world, if you were genuinely worried about people being offended you would engage with the topic rather than just ignoring it. Go out and actually see live comedy and you will see jokes about a lot of things by people who actually know how to navigate the line, rather than sitting on your couch complaining that you can't say anything anymore.

There is a great Aussie song from last year that I think about a lot that starts:

I had invented a type of guy
That I couldn't hold on to in real life
And he made me so mad
That I lost my mind

Nothing is as bad as you think, just engage with it rather than assuming everyone is out to get you.
Again you're missing the point. A person has decided to search for something to be offended by. Do you think they would have done the same if it was a local sports team a teachers break up or god forbid a female netball club.

We live in a world where songs like Darling it's Cold Outside in USA STATES have been banned while My Neck My Back and Slam that Arse remain top sellers in the same state we have serious issues. TV shows that kids watch like Family Guy have an old guy chasing a young boy around for sex and other offensive topics. we again pick and choose whats offensive.

Now for Scollop come down to a local sports club one that has both genders of football and also netball and if you will quickly see the double standards of what is deemed offensive and by who.
If you think the teachers doing skits about sexual assault are being let back in to the school you live in a fantasy land.

And there you go again saying people 'decided' to be offended. Even being generous any accepting that to be true (which to be clear it is not), do you know how the rest of the world gets around that issue? We don't do things that people could consider offensive. Easy to do, most of us do it everyday.

Please go and take an intro to media studies class or comedy or something. If you can't see the difference between a song where a man and woman are in dialogue and the woman sings 'The answer is, "No"' (and I assume you know where the song goes after that), and a song by a female artist solely singing about how she wants her partner to treat her (which was also an inversion of male dominated and often misogynistic rap at the time), then you really need to try harder. It isn't just the words being said, it also matters who is saying them and who they are saying them to. I am happy to try to keep educating you but you need to meet me halfway and listen to what people are saying.

I don't know who you are or where you work (if you aren't retired), but we are coming in to Christmas season, so get up at you work Christmas party or family gathering and start making jokes about sexual assault and report back to us.

Do you want to link to that reporting, because I haven't seen it anywhere.

Even if that's true, do you think maybe a staff member who was on duty (serving drinks/food, picking up empties, whatever else) might have said to the bar manager "you know that function yesterday, yeah they were doing some crook stuff that really bothered me" which prompted the bar manager to check the CCTV?

Been a while since I worked in a bar, but I can't remember a bar manager ever going back through CCTV without a reason to. 99% of the time it is boring as anything.

As I have said the issue here is the method of how it was done. Now we have the AFLW team saying they are offended.

Do we need to change "Cryin' Curly" to "Lyin' Curly"??

If its widely reported then should be easy enough to post a link?

And you're still avoiding justifying how doing a skit joking about and re-enacting Jarryd Hayne raping someone is acceptable when both GWS and the AFL have very strong public stances regarding violence against women.

I never said what Fahey did was ok just another bottom feeder comment. My issue is how this was reported and that acts that are widely viewed on forms of media are in this case offensive and punishable.

Because when you're representing a club/employer you have to follow a set of standards!

Porn exists, doesn't mean its ok to play it in your lunch room at work.

It's not hard to understand.

Of everyone here it seems you're the one most looking for reasons to be upset/offended.

How many posts in this thread and this is the first time you even reference someone who might have done something wrong.

And the best you can do is say 'I never said what Fahey did was ok', you are so far gone you can't even acknowledge it was wrong. Not only that but that statement is still untrue, in your first post you are complaining that players are facing punishments, saying they just dressed up and played out movie scenes, that is saying what they did was ok in all but those two letters.

Did players get fined for acting out movie scenes? Did players get fined for just being there? Would this have been out in the public if a person didn't search for something to be offended by?

They didn't search, they were behind the bar and working the event, saw some dodgy s*** and went to the Giants/AFL.

The bar manger who wasn't there watched the CCT footage the day after.

Source???

And if that was the case, it would be because the bar employees who witnessed it correctly went up the chain-of-command to report an issue.

Why is that the case. You sure it just wasn't a sticky beak seeing what went on at a private AFL gathering?

To me Curly that point is irrelevant.

Using Dud’s example… if I use my work computer to look up porn and get caught I’m the one that’s in trouble. Who found it and how it effects them doesn’t matter

Are you saying your first post was complaining that players were getting fines just for going? Clearly I was being generous thinking you were referring specifically to players who may have done something wrong. Did you assume every player was getting fined? That might explain why you are so angry but it's ok, that isn't reality.

Do you want to go back to all your other points that I addressed? Or do you understand a bit more about how comedy/media works now? Or are you still stuck on this imaginary person that was 'search(ing) for something to be offended by'

CURLY also knows exactly what the bar manager's intentions were
CURLY was there. CURLY knows 'exactly' what happened. CURLY also 'knows' how everyone should have responded if they saw anything...and he 'knows' how people should be feeling.

CURLY doesn't believe that any staff present during the time actually witnessed the acts and they were ONLY offended afterwards when they watched the cctv footage.

Now for Scollop

come down to a local sports club one that has both genders of football and also netball and if you will quickly see the double standards of what is deemed offensive and by who.
It's unfortunate that the tables have been turned

Bit of rebalancing perhaps after centuries of paternalism

I feel your pain

Yes because I’m communicating a concept not an example.

If the players didn’t do…
The thing they shouldn’t have done…
They wouldn’t be in trouble.

How they got sprung isn’t relevant
