Tm Membrey
Had a pretty good year with 30 goals and played extremely well well in the last part of the season.
Now all but gone to Collingwood.
Bit going on here.

Re: Tm Membrey
It's nonsense. He's integral to our forward line, And our team spirit.
Make him a modest offer, and make him feel loved.
He'll kick 30 goals again -- why wouldn't he?

Re: Tm Membrey
Unless we get someone else it's all in on Flakey Max for our goals.
Clearly that was the thinking when they signed him up until he was nearing his 40th year.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Tm Membrey
Not really fussed. King Sharman & Owens with Marshall flaoting in is enough. If Membrey gets another year that's fine too.

Re: Tm Membrey
Yeah nahhh... Marshall might have spent more time forward if we brought in a pure ruckman. That aint happenin now until 2026...or maybe ...Heath will be ready late next year (even if it's just for 6-8 rounds) and it's happening in 2025Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2024 2:00am Not really fussed. Collingwood laughing their heads off. We baulked at offering Tim a 2 year deal, but apparently Hill and Mcrae are good to go for the next 3 years.
Can't wait to see Tim kick his first goal for them, punch his chest and point to the Collingwood logo on his jumper

30 year old forward with an unreliable body etc.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2024 2:00am Not really fussed. King Sharman & Owens with Marshall flaoting in is enough. If Membrey gets another year that's fine too.
He stays on the list and it holds back the development of one of
Owens
Sharman
Cammaniti
Right time to move on.

Re: Tm Membrey
Interesting call to let him go. Did his manager say to to the club that he wouldn't play for less than a certain amount of money? I doubt it.
Membrey is a very good mark for his height and has been good for us. However, the negative side of his game is that in general play he is a very slow decision maker and overly cautious with ball in hand. How many times have we seen him mark the ball further up the ground and then be reluctant to dish off a handball to a team mate running pas. His natural instinct when taking a mark outside 50 is to stop, then take a long time to sum things up, allowing defenders to flood our forward half. More often than not he will then bomb the ball long.
There may be other things at play, but we won't know

Re: Tm Membrey
Classic Curly, no way your take was wrong, of course it was Tim being selfish again by playing this year. He probably was planning all along to not take (or get offered) a contract as he wants to assist the afl agenda against the club!
Maybe your mail last year was wrong?

It would have been a PR disaster to delist him at the end of last year. Got an extra year out of StKilda.amusingname wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2024 7:11amClassic Curly, no way your take was wrong, of course it was Tim being selfish again by playing this year. Re: Tm Membrey
Despite the sensitivity of the scenario, word was that many at the club were extremely disappointed by his choices on the eve of our first home final in 12 years last season. The club obviously did what had to be done and supported Tim through a very difficult period, getting him back on track. That said, it won't be forgotten and maybe not forgiven. I'm not implying this is the reason we're letting him go, but could it be a factor?

How did he get an extra year? He was contracted for 2024 wasn’t he?CURLY wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2024 7:20amIt would have been a PR disaster to delist him at the end of last year. Couldn’t possibly be that maybe Ross and the club have decided that a 30 year old forward (31 in may) with a history of knee injuries was a risk and they want to start fresh with a different option. It must be that your theory from a year ago that was already proven wrong was actually right all along.

“Got an extra year out of St Kilda” - was under contract for 2024 so getting paid no matter what.
Yep, so right.
