Re: Brendon Bolton
2nd thread on this.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
Fresh set of eyes and experiences but doesn't seem as good company as Coach Beard. (Has BB ever been seen smiling?).
Also fuels my unfounded speculation that there is friction at Collingwood and that McCrea is difficult to work with.

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
I here that Boris is now forwards coach and Rivers taking the defence don't know anything about Bolton. Harvey is still midfield coach
Looks like we have a better structure.
I think Bolton came on board because the soft cap has increased.

We now have two ex teachers in our coaching team, Carroll and Bolton. Not sure that either played football at a high level either.

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
Bolton is methodically working his way through every AFL club.
Apparently he and Justin Leppitsch butted heads at Collingwood. Interesting that Leppitsch has now been relieved of his duties within the football department and has been moved into list management/recruitment. Graeme Wright has gone to Carlton. Apparently, he had issues with Leppitsch, too.
Don't know what Bolton can bring to us

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
Great appointment if Boris is going to look after the Forwards next year.
Bolton was in charge of Collingwood's backline in 2023 when they won the flag.
Corey Enright has done such an outstanding job they could probably coach themselves, but Bolton is a professional and very experienced to take us to the next level in our development.
Speaking of development...he could transition to take over as head of development, OR head coach of Sandringham OR head of the whole Football Department. So he becomes someone that will easily take over any of those roles if circumstances warrant change.

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
In the season just finished Harvey was Forwards coach and BJ was Midfield coach.
I'm ok with Harvey taking over the midfield.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
Bolton played was a gun in the Tassie statewide league
Was BOG in a GF at 19
Captain Coach of a premiership at 23
Won a league B&F
Played for the Tassie Devils in the VFL
Carroll played 200+ VFL games (club record holder)
Won multiple B&Fs
Won 3 premierships
Both were outstanding footballers

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
If Assistant Coach Bolton can get us to nullify Daicos, N and Cripps, P from his work with them, then excellent appointment.
Maybe his job will be to scout/analyse the 17 oppositions?
(As a non coach the only way I can think of keeping those 2 guys quiet is a gag and wrist restraints so looking forward to see how a professional goes about it. )

Re: Brendon Bolton New Assistant Coach
The recruitment of Bolton and Rivers as assistant coaches testifies that Ross Lyon is by no means the dictatorial force some on this forum have made him out to be.
Bolton in particular is a highly credentialled coach. I very much doubt he would have agreed to come to Moorabbin if he felt that he would not have considerable input in both team selections and game day strategies.
I am in no doubt that club president Andrew Bassat will have given these appointments a big tick.
Yet more positive signs indicating St Kilda is heading in the right direction.

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

It's refreshing and a slap in the face for any media types who might reckon RTB wants only Yes men and sycophants around him.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Wed 16 Oct 2024 2:23pm The recruitment of Bolton and Rivers as assistant coaches testifies that Ross Lyon is by no means the dictatorial force some on this forum have made him out to be.

The idea that he would welcome a guy who's actually coached at senior level before, suggests he won't feel threatened.
