That’s a shame. Always thought he was going to be a pretty handy player for us if he could get on the park. And thought he was a possible Battle replacement.

Could be regrettable if he gets his body right, but 8 games in three years is pretty risky to keep around too. Plenty of supporters doubt Max Kings body, but he has played 45 games over the same period.

Like the other uncontacted players I am sure he has a 1 year minimum money deal on the table (or at least the prospect of one if we don't find a replacement, which would be why they haven't been delisted already), so if he can get more out of Collingwood then good luck to him.

Where does it say he was delisted?

He's possibly a bit too old to be valuable as anything more than depth.
He seems to keep breaking down each time he gets close to peak fitness.

Sure, his first game was a revelation, but honestly, if the Pies think they can fix him, let him go

My guess would be that we've spoken to him about a 1 yr contract and have mutually agreed for him to see if he can get better elsewhere.

Put yourself in Ross Lyon's shoes.

He doesn't trust Hayes body and he hasn't been able to use Hayes properly in the two years he's been back as coach. That means it's virtually impossible for Ross to plan 2025 with Hayes as a key position player in the side.

We know how Ross treated Goose McGuire and Luke Ball and other players he saw as having too many injuries.

Would love to keep him, heart and soul type player. But if he can't get on the park he's not worth a list spot.

If he passes another clubs medical test, then surely he's good enough for us to keep.

In today's world of modern medicine, I wonder if scientists have the capability to test cartilage and tendons and bone and muscles for strength and durability?

Can you rate the stability and structure by genetics and molecular testing?

Our club and our doctors could get a leg up on the competition if we think outside the box.

A guy like Jack Hayes could be a risk factor going forward, but unless you can test for that sort of thing it's all just a gamble

What do they normally do? Do they grab one of his testicles and ask him to cough 😂

I mean...what is a medical? Is it just an extended fitness test?

Sure...they probably examine medical records like past surgical treatments and x-rays...but is it a feel good statement more than anything else?

Generally I'd support Ross Lyon discarding injury prone players.

This makes the + 6 years for Max King interesting.

I’ve seen players hardly play for 3 years

Then hardly miss a game for years following

Lincoln McCarthy
Charlie Curnow
Mason Wood
Joe Daniher
Gary Rohan

Famously Robert Harvey missed a lot of games between 99-02 from 28-31yo and then hardly missed from 03-08 before retiring at 37.

It’s not to do with their body, it’s just poor luck in most cases

None of them debuted at 25.

Games at 25th birthday...

Lincoln McCarthy - 53
Charlie Curnow - 84
Mason Wood - 39
Joe Daniher - 100
Gary Rohan - 52

Jack Hayes - 0

Yep and all of them played at least twice as many games as Jack over any three year period. Unfortunately for Jack his body is too much of a risk.

Personally I would rather that list spot be given to a new ruck prospect, or to give one of the other edge case guys like Paton or Membrey another year

koschitzke was one he had a terrible run of injury's then got right and what a player he was when fit. Also Mason wood came to us injured and got injured again but how good is he fit. We should not loose both membery or Hayes Keep 1 otherwise forward experience stocks a bit thin.

The players you mentioned had established AFL careers with time on their side.

Jack Hayes has neither.

Hayes made an impact in his first game with us a few years back, then played a couple of reasonable games and got injured and never been the same, so might be better he looks for other opportunities.
