Gold Coast First Rounder
Should be hitting them up now!!!
They want to offload their pick 13, because it’ll just get swallowed up by Lombard bid
They will think we are finishing bottom 6
Future first for pick 13
Attack this draft and get 3 or 4 or 5 in the top 30
It’ll set us up pre TAS

Re: Gold Coast First Rounder
As I have posted on other posts, there will be a bidding war for this pick. It will not be as simple as a first round for a first round.
Ripped straight from afl.com.au
CARLTON has stepped up its bid for pick 13, with the Blues putting their future first and second-round picks up for grabs for the hotly pursued Gold Coast selection.
The Demons and Bulldogs have both offered their future first-round pick in exchange for Gold Coast's pick 13, while the Swans have put forward picks 19 and 22.
The Blues are willing to use both of their 2025 first and second-round picks to get the Suns' pick, which they would then look to use as the main part of their offer to Port Adelaide star Houston.

Re: Gold Coast First Rounder
It depends on how GC rate where StK and Carlton will finish in 2025
My thinking
Carlton top 6
StK will be rated bottom 6 (I don’t think they will be)
Carlton want Houston and will sell the farm to get him
Problem is
They don’t have a first round selection
They can offer 13 if they get that pick from GC - that will not get it done!!!!
They will not be able to offer futures if they trade them for pick 13

Re: Gold Coast First Rounder
There is a bit of reporting that the subs pick will be past of the Houston deal, but if 13 is the starting point, I wouldn't mind us getting a bidding war going over our compo pick which would be more attractive to Port for that deal.
We will need picks for our targets and if we can slide the compo pick back later in the first round and gain the picks we need for trades that seems an easy choice.
None of that excludes is going after 13 in your plan B.M so I like that too. I wonder if Carlton's second might edge us out though if they have academy guys they might need points for next year too (which we can probably assume they do)

Re: Gold Coast First Rounder
What I don’t get is why GC would even contemplate giving pick 13 to someone above them on the ladder, which just makes that team stronger and the promised return pick would be worse.
Why not deal with someone around or below you on the ladder and then it’s a win/win for everyone?

Don' t think we are in the running for this pick, you'd need multiple later picks for points.
