I personally am not impressed with either.

Pickett is a goer that you have to like, but I don’t see him above VFL level, but given his effort could be considered as a rookie.

Cole has all the physical attributes, but significantly lacks competitiveness at this stage of the journey. Same was said about Adam Goodes as a junior and he turned out an ok player so you never know.

But the pick 40 rule has been scrapped this year.

What is the new rule re this story on Aug 2, 2024.
The change announced this week has removed the top 40 requirement. It means clubs have the option to match a bid on their NGA player at any time, regardless of when on draft night the bid from the rival club comes.

To be fair to Bassat, this was another part of his draft fairness crusade earlier in the year. So having a few clubs on the same page (and no obvious number one pick they would be taking off Richmond) probably helped get it changed quickly.

not Sure about Boston he has only been tracking ok there is Lennox Hoffman a NGA product played really well in U18 GF for Sandy.
But I don't think we will get all of them. Would any other club bid on Cole and if so at what stage?

Boston has never been AFL talent in my humble opinion, saw him plenty at Southport.
