I wouldn’t put it past that smug group of ex Hawthorn players who are in and around the media, as well as people like Roughead, conniving to get Battle to change his mind at the last minute. Something just seems off.

Re: Battle told not to attend B and F
After one of our games, it might have been vs Swans (the win) Fox Footy were talking to Judas (live cross) and after he finished, Dunstall said 'damn, he's a big boy, he'd look good in Hawk colours' and then said he has no knowledge nor control over contracts etc66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Thu 03 Oct 2024 12:39pm I wouldn’t put it past that smug group of ex Hawthorn players who are in and around the media, as well as people like Roughead, conniving to get Battle to change his mind at the last minute. Re: Battle told not to attend B and F
Which of our players would Battle play on next year? Membrey (if he stays)? Sharman? Who would win that battle (haha)?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

I was told last night by an AFL club official ( not St Kilda) the JB compensation is #8.
God I hope he is correct!

Battle " I totally accept and understood why they didn't want me at the Trevor Barker. I would have liked to have gone, but I was comfortable with their decision at the end of the day and we move on."
Battle stressed his decision to move to Hawthorn wasn't due to an issue at the Saints, with the Dandenong Stingrays product praising the impact of Lyon on his football and family.
"Ross knows how much respect I have for him. He has been a significant influence on not just my career, but on my life in the last few years," he said.
"He has been amazing for myself, my family, Casey and the kids. I'm super grateful that I've had the chance to be coached by someone like Ross Lyon."

If he told the club he was staying and then at the last minute changed his mind, then I totally understand the clubs decision as he does. If the draft is as good as they say then I'm not unhappy with the compo the club got for him.

Unofficially - as in I wont reveal my source - but it is close to the club.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Wed 02 Oct 2024 6:51pm While in one hand it may sound petty, but there is likely more than one side to this story.
If players and staff alike are snubbing Battle, it may be more than just sour grapes. As good a player as Battle is, we aren’t losing a league top fiver.
Maybe there is discontent as to how Battle handled the negotiation process, what he told his peers compared to what transpired?
Maybe it’s warranted, maybe not.
All I know is that we’ve recently tried being the club of pleasant, cuddly men and that certainly hasn’t helped our brand.
Mad Monday, wives and partners were gathered - and Battles partner went off at another partner, Josh stepped in and 'assisted' the aggrieved 'WAGs' partner then also got involved. The subject was his leaving - but it turned hostile.
Josh was then asked not to attend the TBA

I dunno how anyone can start this conversation when lying Ross Lyon's coaching the team! It's a pathetic response from the club. It doesn’t mean anything to us now, but I hope, for Josh’s sake, his relationship status is sound because it has certainly turned his life upside down.
