2 first rounders and a second or third back back
It would have to be pick 9 and a future 1st
LDU would command 1 Million for 5 plus a trigger for a 6th
I think it would be closer to 2 first rounders PLUS a second rounder if it was today.
Next year could be worse, as they unleash 2 future years of trading.
Blue chips mids might begin to cost 3 first rounders.
Give North our first 3 picks that is picks 7 & 8 and 25 as they stand now in return for pick 2 and LDU.
But we would have LDU and the 3rd best midfielder from the draft.
But I am only dreaming because it values LDU at a little over 1400 points before and after all the draft compensations & father sons = pick 10

How much of a power position do North have?
Get something for him now or lose him as a free agent in 12 months?
They would get a top 3 draft pick as compensation (depending on where they finish), that is what he is worth to North in a years time.

St Kilda's pick 25 has already become pick 28 due to first round (Band 1) compensation for Battle & Perryman and end of first round (Band 2) for Isaac Cummings.
That will slip further because of father son and academy picks for Levi Ashcroft, Sam Marshall, Isaac Kako & Leo Lombard.
That makes it pick 32 OUCH!
756 points suddenly only worth 584 points

Remember when the forum was in heat over Jake Kelly of GWS. LDU lusting is a similar crush we cannot date.
The focus has to be the draft and development of the talent we have.
Darcy W will be a star. Hugo G, so exciting as a prospect, McRea bolstering if Dogs are not silly about pricing. Windy back from injury. Henry same same. We are in good shape, no need to chase LDU in vain.

Yes that's a great idea. However why would he come to the Saints? Take your Saints hat off for a sec. We're a middling club with a small supporter base with a poor history of success. Players are not going to come running to the saints. That's fact. I hope I'm wrong, but superstar players will go to the big clubs. Whatever we offer, bigger clubs can offer more. Even the bombers will get big name players before us. When was the last time a big name player came to the Saints? We need to draft particularly well and trade very craftily giving very little up and replacing gaps in our list. I know I sound like a glass half empty, but I wouldn't waste our time trying to convince him

Honestly…
We’re a club on the up capable of playing good football and contending soon
RTB has a decent reputation in terms of standards and strategy - players seem to like him
He’d slot into a midfield with Steele, Sinclair, Hill and promising guys like Wilson, Pou and Windy (plus hopefully another A-lister like Brayshaw in 12months [let me dream])
$$$ talks
Saints have a passionate supporter base when the club is winning and a great history (not a winning one but still)… A Saints flag is the toughest assignment in football and promises immortality status)
I’m not saying we’ll get him… but there’s stuff to work with there
The problem is, the really good players aren't that keen on getting on the Saints list.
B graders might come to us, if the coin is big but A Graders, who have already played for a shite team, won't pick us
if success is why they want to change clubs.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
So much depends on our performance in 2025. If we show significant improvement and at a minimum finish in the bottom half of the 8 (a la 2023), it would give us some leverage in attracting someone like LDU or Brayshaw.
If we can't, don't get some B grader. Keep our draft picks and hit it one more time before the Devils tear the draft to bits for a few years.
"There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
LDU is probably worth pick 8. He's a very late bloomer. He's started to dominate in the last 2 years. He cuts through traffic and is very strong. I think he's stronger than Brayshaw.

North want senior players or at the very least, experienced players with hard bodies. We should be adding a couple of players to the draft picks like possibly Hill, Butler, Sharman, Jones, Dow, Membrey, Paton etc..
I know a couple of these guys aren't signed yet, but let North tell us what they want, and let's make it happen

North are getting Darling for #69 (or something like that) and Parker for similar.
I doubt they'd see any of the steak knives we would offer as any carrot in a trade for LDU.
They'd ask for #8 plus Phillipou, or Wilson.

Please, none of those players other than Hill hold any value.
